Throughout Emma Stone's impressive career, the talented actor has starred in a long list of movies that audiences loved. After all, Stone has headlined movies like the Amazing Spider-Man films, Zombieland, The Croods, Superbad, and Crazy, Stupid, Love among others.

On top of the crowd-pleasing movies that Stone has starred in, she also played a pivotal role in several acclaimed films. In fact, Stone won an Oscar for her La La Land performance, she has been nominated for two more Academy Awards, and she has taken home a lot of other trophies during her career.

Despite all the impressive movies Stone has starred in, many people have a special affection for one of her other films, the teen movie Easy A. As a result of how much some people adore Easy A, there are some theories about the teen movie including one that suggests that Easy A could be a Cruella prequel.

Given that a lot of actors like Stone love to make films that impact moviegoers, Emma must have been overjoyed she got to star in a movie people love like Easy A. On top of that, Stone definitely got something else out of starring in Easy A since she learned she suffers from a disease while making the movie.

What Did Starring In Easy A Teach Emma Stone About Herself?

These days when a major movie gets released, the studio sends the film's stars out on the talk show circuit to promote the film. While there is no doubt that is valuable for the studio since movies can't succeed if moviegoers don't know about them, a lot of the resulting interviews are boring.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of movie stars who are so afraid of upsetting anyone that they avoid saying anything interesting. On top of that, the fact is that some movies are bad and nothing overly interesting goes on behind the scenes. When these two factors combine, that results in some really boring celebrity interviews.

When Easy A was released in 2010, MTV News interviewed Emma Stone about the project. Considering that Easy A is a great movie with a lot of interesting things to say and Stone has a lovable personality, it shouldn't surprise anyone that her MTV News interview was compelling.

Even still, an anecdote that Stone revealed about the making of Easy A is so hilarious that it is great to learn about it more than a decade later.

In the movie Easy A, there is a memorable scene where Stone and one of her co-stars' characters pretended like they were being intimate. In that sequence, viewers can see that the two characters are bouncing on a bed and making noises but otherwise, nothing is going on.

When viewers watch this scene, they have no reason to believe anything about shooting it would be traumatic. On top of that, it seems all but certain that when Stone read the movie's script, she had no idea how shooting that sequence would affect her life.

As Stone explained to MTV News, because of the innocent yelling and bouncing her character does during that scene, shooting it was tiring. The physical strain that Stone was under when she shot that sequence caused her to have an asthma attack.

Since people have asthma attacks all the time, it may not seem remarkable that Stone had one during the filming of Easy A. However, the thing is that up until that moment, Stone had no idea she had a long-term inflammatory disease since she had never had an asthma attack before.

Given how funny Stone can be during interviews, it makes perfect sense that the way she described her first asthma attack to MTV News was hilarious.

"Oh, for the love, I can't even simulate s*x without dying! I had a little asthma attack, without any prior knowledge that I had asthma, during the scene where we had to jump up and down for hours and hours screaming and yelling on the bed. [It] was humiliating, because it was the second day of shooting,"

Stone also went on to explain what she assumed must have been going on in the minds of the crew that worked on Easy A.

"Here's what it's going to be like the whole movie, as I'm breathing into an oxygen tank. The crew was like, 'She's going to be a real blast. Wow. Amazing. A 20-year-old having an asthma attack.' "

Why Emma Stone Has Never Seen Easy A

Over the years, there have been a lot of famous actors who've revealed that they can't stand watching themselves perform. With that in mind, it may not seem like it is worth noting the fact that Emma Stone has revealed that she has never watched Easy A all the way through.

In 2018, Stone and Timothee Chalamet got together to discuss what they do for a living for Variety's Actors on Actors series. During the resulting conversation, Stone spoke about why she has never fully watched Easy A.

“I haven’t seen it. No, I’ve seen some scenes. But I went to a friends and family screening to see it, and I had to get up and walk out. Who wants to watch themselves for that long?”

During the same discussion, Stone also revealed how much pressure she put on herself while making Easy A. While Stone didn't say she can't watch Easy A because she remembers how much pressure she felt at the time, it certainly seems possible that could have played a role.

“I was 20 and I put so much pressure on myself. While we were shooting it, I was just going nuts and was like, ‘I don’t know, this whole thing could fall apart, I have no idea.’ Because I had to be there all day, every day. And if I wasn’t on screen, I was narrating, and it was just too much me.”

“It was kind of like, I just felt like it had to be well-calibrated throughout, and it was the first time that I had ever had to rely on myself mostly to be able to carry all that,” Stone added. “I think I just put so much pressure on myself.”

Unfortunately, another one of Easy A's starts had an even worse reaction to seeing themself in Easy A. According to Amanda Bynes, seeing herself in Easy A made her know for sure she needed to give up acting.

“I literally couldn’t stand my appearance in that movie and I didn’t like my performance. I was absolutely convinced I needed to stop acting after seeing it.”
