Emmy Rossum is one of those actresses who everyone loves, and she's had some pretty significant roles to prove it. With a big heart and a big passion for all things film, Rossum is making it her mission to break out of the world of acting and dig deep to be behind the scenes. Aside from directing an episode of Shameless, she's now setting her sights on production and a few other personal things.

She's a woman of many talents and we're low-key jealous of her ambition and motivation to do it all. With a great balance between self-care, humanitarianism, and career goals, Rossum is showing the world that it is possible to accomplish anything you set your mind - (and heart) to. We're sure to see more amazing things from this actress/producer/director/animal lover in the future but for now, here are some things she's been up to since leaving Shameless.

15 She Had The Chance To Run A Gift Shop For Ralph Lauren

Around the holiday season, Rossum had the chance to work with the well-known (and well-loved) brand Ralph Lauren, and she fit the collab perfectly. We couldn't love either of them much more than we already do, so this pairing was definitely a no-brainer.

14 A Bit Of Vacation: She Spent Some Time In Tokyo

It seems that traveling has also been part of Rossum's itinerary, as she spent some time across the sea in Tokyo during her time off. Many celebs take breaks in other countries, but not too many choose Tokyo. For those who follow her Insta, it seems like she was in her glory the entire time.

13 Her Directing Accomplishments Since Shameless

Rossum has successfully, and almost seamlessly, transitioned from a role in front of the camera to a role behind the camera. Her passions extend far past her love for acting and include things such as directing, which she displayed beautifully while still on Shameless. Now, she's looking at producing her own media.

12 The Announcement Of Her Production Company Was Big News

The production company Rossum owns, PRODUCTION 8, was announced by herself, via her social media. The announcement came in April of last year, and the star stated, 'The opportunity to tell stories is a gift and there has been no greater time than now for women to lead the charge.'

11 Her Christmas Holiday Was Spent Visiting Animal Shelters

Rossum spent some serious pup-loving time in shelters during her break and we're totally supportive of it. Her compassion for animals is strong and if any of her animal selfie photos are any indication, she had a great time doing it. Thank you for loving the animals as much as we do!

10 She Took On A Completely New Look

The word of her new role in the upcoming NBC show Angelyne was leaked last year, and it's definitely something to look forward to. Rossum's husband, Sam Esmail, is also on board to help produce the show, so it's sure to be a winner.

The show was written by Nancy Oliver, who also wrote Lars and the Real Girl.

9 This Look Was Inspired By Her New Role In Angelyne

It goes without saying, but Rossum is entirely unrecognizable in her new role. It's an almost shocking turn from her roles in the past (especially after her role as Fiona on Shameless), but that just makes us even more excited to see what's to come from this brilliant actress.

8 She's Starring Alongside Her Husband, Behind The Scenes As A Co-Executive Producer

Both Rossum and her husband have been known to work together, and we're likely to see more of that in the future. They're both producing now and while Rossum is still acting (see: Angelyne), they're stepping up their game in the years to come as far as anything behind the scenes is concerned.

7 Off-Screen, She Fought For Equal Pay For Women

While this was an ongoing eventual success, Rossum is fiercely passionate about women's rights. While she was on Shameless, she campaigned for equal pay that matched that of her male co-star. Off-screen, she continues to battle for women's rights and is a supporter outside her own work as well.

6 Her Soul-Searching Was Successful, As She Strived To Find Other Characters She Could Take On

While the actress has been the first one to express tremendous gratitude for her time on Shameless, that doesn't mean she's not excited to take on new roles in the future.

From the sounds of it, her experience both on and off the show has given her the confidence and desire to take on new and different characters.
