Sam Levinson’s Euphoria truly came back with a bang as January 9th saw the return of its chaotic characters and storylines. In a true Euphoria manner, the season 2 premiere was filled with glittery make-up, fashionable outfits, bright neon aesthetics, and of course tons of angst. The first episode of the season picks up almost immediately after the special bridge episodes left off. As we welcomed the characters back to our screens, we saw them bid farewell to the end of the year and begin the new year with unresolved issues and a whole set of new ones.

With the eventful and “shocking” premiere (as described by leading lady Zendaya herself) giving fans a taste of what is to come in the rest of the second season, many are looking for further clues into what may be in store for them in season 2. A large focus has been placed on the cast of the show and what they have said about the new series in order to try and decipher any piece of information that may confirm fan theories. Let’s take a look at what this talented cast has said so far about filming the second season of Euphoria.

7 Zendaya On Rue’s Journey In Season 2

The season 2 premiere saw leading lady Zendaya's character Rue, reconcile with Hunter Schafer’s Jules. However, due to her relapse into her old and damaging habits, whether they will remain together throughout the season is questionable. Whilst speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Zendaya shared her thoughts on the matter.

She stated, “It’s interesting because we start the season off with giving Rue everything she says she wants, everything she says that or at least, she thinks that she needs to have a happy life, and she thinks she has it all and thinks that she can have her cake and eat it too, and I think that as a viewer but also as someone who deeply cares about her, I think we can all feel that it’s not going to last, and it’s not going to end well either.”

6 Maude Apatow On Lexi’s Season 2 Character Development

One Euphoria character who arguably goes through fewer troubles than the others is Maude Apatow’s Lexi. Fans were first introduced to Lexi as a supporting character as Rue’s childhood best friend and Cassie’s (Sydney Sweeney) sister. However, it seems as though in this season a lot more focus will be placed on Lexi as her character develops, and she steps into the center stage.

During the Hollywood Reporter interview, Apatow herself highlighted this as she stated, “I think she [Lexi] definitely has a full journey and her confidence sort of breaks out of her shell and becomes more sure of herself,” adding that in the season, Lexi “Creates boundaries with her sister and Rue.”

5 Sydney Sweeney On Cassie’s Budding Season 2 Relationship

During the episode, viewers were shocked to see Sweeney’s Cassie become sexually entangled with the troubled Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi). Later on in the interview, Sweeney herself spoke up about how audiences would react to Cassie’s difficult journey after having slept with her best friend’s abusive ex-boyfriend whilst teasing whether this affair would be continuing throughout the season.

Sweeney stated, “Cassie’s definitely going to be making some decisions that the audience may or may not agree with.”

3 Alexa Demie On Maddy’s Growth

Another character that may be surprising audiences with their change in attitude is the ever-so-fashionable Maddy Perez, portrayed by Alexa Demie. During a YouTube interview with Raffy Ermac, she highlighted how excited she was for audiences to see a new side to Maddy.

She stated, “I think we do see a new side to her this season, I think you see her just reflecting, and you see her a little more vulnerable.”

2 Dominic Fike On New Boy Elliot

During the season premiere, audiences were introduced to a brand-new character, Elliot, portrayed by musician and actor Dominic Fike. Whilst very little is known about the new character so far, through the promo videos released in the run-up to the season, it was hinted that Fike’s character could potentially be causing a rift between Jules and Rue.
