As someone who has been in entertainment for years, Dominic West is no stranger to receiving a lot of public coverage. Whether its headlines about his son, his life since his biggest show, or his affair with another performer, West is accustomed to his name popping up in headlines.

Of course, its West's success that had brought him to this place, and during the 2000s, he truly broke out as a key cast member on The Wire. The show is a classic, and West has kept busy since then.

Let's take a look at what he has starred in since The Wire.

Dominic West Was Brilliant On 'The Wire'

From 2002 to 2008, Dominic West brilliantly portrayed Detective Jimmy McNulty on The Wire, which is largely considered one of the best television shows in history.

West's audition was a mostly silent tape that amused creator David Simon enough to get a crack at the job.

Once he was on the show, Dominic West turned in an incredible performance in each episode. He was a huge reason why the series became one of the greatest shows of all time, and fans were genuinely sad to see it come to an end back in 2008.

A few years back, West said that he would be down to return for a new project.

"I think it needs to be revisited myself. Some of us in the cast have been campaigning for that for the past 10 years. I would do that only if David [Simon] and Ed Burns [producer] were involved in the writing. But I would do it at the drop of a hat," he said.

It has been many years since The Wire finished its iconic run on the small screen, and since then, Dominic West has done a bit of everything in the entertainment industry.

He's Been In Movies Like 'Finding Dory'

Since being a featured performer on The Wire, Dominic West did an exceptional job in landing some great roles on the big screen.

Some of his most notable roles include Johnny English Reborn, Arthur Christmas, The Awakening, Pride, Finding Dory, and 2018 Tomb Raider.

The cool thing about Finding Dory is that the project reunited West with his Wire running mate, Idris Elba. The duo even got to improvise while they were in the studio together.

"I think we did do quite a bit of improvisation, which was cut out studiously, and then we did what Andrew told us to do. No, I think we improvised quite a bit of it, and we mucked around quite a bit," he told NME.

As if all of this wasn't impressive enough, West will be featured in 2022's Downton Abbey: a New Era as Guy Dexter.

When speaking on joining the Downton family, West said, "It's very daunting coming onto a show that's been going for so long that is such a big phenomenon and such a big success. I'd never been to Highclere (castle) before...you go up the drive and you come over the brow of the hill and there it is. It's like some Disney castle and you can't quite believe that it's real. It's such an extraordinary outline against, against the horizon and...so that was the first sort of intake of breath."

West will continue doing great film work, but he's also made sure to stay sharp on the small screen, too.

West Had Also Worked On Multiple TV Projects

On television, Dominic West has continued to turn in some great work since his time on The Wire came to an end.

West has been on shows like The Hour, Appropriate Adult, The Affair, Les Miserables, Brassic, and The Crown.

The Affair certainly became a notable project for West, as it mirrored his publicized extramarital activities with Lily James.

In an interview years earlier, West noted that many of his family's members opted against watching the show.

"My wife hasn’t watched The Affair yet and I don’t really want her to. It’s embarrassing. I don’t have parents, but I’ve got five sisters and a brother and they haven’t watched it. My sisters were saying, 'Yes, we heard it’s good. We heard you do certain things there and we decided not to watch it,'" the actor said.

Looking ahead, West still has SAS: Rogue Heroes as an upcoming television project. Combined with his trip to Downton, West will remain quite active for the foreseeable future.
