Rich and famous Lil Wayne is a rolling stone...wherever he lays his hat is his home. Meaning, he's a favorite with the ladies. It's so sincere that even former video vixen and author, Karrine Steffans, has publicly stated that she'll never stop seeing the rapper for anyone (her husband included). Updated on September 1, 2021, by Michael Chaar: While fans are familiar with Lil Wayne's music career, his family tree is a little more complicated. The rapper is a father to four children, all from four different baby mamas. In 1998, Toya Johnson gave birth to her and Wayne's first child, Reginae Carter. Wayne's second child was born during his time with Sarah Vivan, who is unknown in the industry. In 2009, Lil Wayne welcomed not one, but two kids with Lauren London and Nivea. The rapper has remained active in all of his kid's lives, including a few of his baby mamas too. Toya Johnson and Lil Wayne are easily the closest of the bunch and have even revisited the idea of getting back together.
10 Toya Was 12 When She Met Wayne
Antonia "Toya" Johnson met Lil Wayne in New Orleans at the age of 12, when she was visiting a corner store. The rapper was standing outside. At the age of 14, Johnson became pregnant with their daughter. When Toya was expecting, Wayne was already a burgeoning rapper who was signed to Cash Money Records.
In order to support his child, Wayne eventually chose to fully go after his rap career with Cash Money Records. When he was 16 and Johnson was 15, on November 29, 1998, she gave birth to their daughter, Reginae Carter. Sheesh, talk about growing up fast!
9 The Couple Got Married On Valentine's Day
Years down the road, on Valentine's Day 2004, when Wayne was becoming a superstar, the couple got married. Aww - and we thought Paula Patton and Robin Thicke had the ultimate fairytale story!
However, being married to a young and magnetic hip-hop star came with its share of shortcomings, as you can surely imagine. After almost two years of marriage, in January 2006, Johnson and Wayne separated, citing her unhappiness over his lifestyle. His career was keeping him on the road for long stretches of time.
In spite of being divorced, Wayne and Johnson have remained good friends to this day and continue to love and support their daughter.
8 Toya Is A Reality Star & Author
Wayne is not the only talented one out of the former couple! Johnson has written/published several books: In My Own Words...My Real Reality, How To Lose A Husband, Priceless Inspirations, and You Just Don't Get It, which she penned with her daughter. Johnson is also a businesswoman. She owns two boutiques - GARB Shoetique in Smyrna, Georgia, and G.A.R.B. in New Orleans, Louisiana.
In 2009, Johnson starred on a BET reality show called Tiny and Toya with Xscape group member, Tameka "Tiny" Harris (who's the wife of rapper T.I. - he has some strange parenting techniques). In 2011, Johnson starred in her own BET reality show titled Toya: A Family Affair which lasted for one season.
7 Nivea's Been On The Charts & Is A Grammy Nominee
Remember the hook from Mystikal's "Danger (Been So Long)"? "Been so long, He's been on; So please, Show me, What it is that you want to see!" Yes, that was Nivea! We just discovered that ourselves.
Following that feature, Nivea branched out on her own and made the Billboard charts a few times. Two popular songs of Nivea's are "Okay" featuring YoungBloodZ & Lil' Jon, as well as "Laundromat." Though, Nivea is most known for her hit, "Don't Mess with My Man", which earned her a Grammy nomination.
6 Nivea & Wayne Started Dating In 2002
Nivea began dating Wayne in February 2002. In December 2002, the two became engaged. In July 2003, Nivea discussed her engagement and how the rapper proposed.
"Wayne said, 'I got your Christmas present with me and you're gonna love it. It's gonna make you smile. He got down on his knee and he was like, 'I know I'm young, but I've been through enough relationships to know and understand the meaning of what love is.' He was just perfect. He told me that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me and he loved me. It was snot and tears at the same time."
Nivea spoke of her wish to bear Wayne's child. "I want a little boy very much right now. Wayne's daughter is just wonderful. She's a beautiful little girl." However, in August 2003, the "Lollipop" spitter called off their engagement.
5 The Couple Had A Child In 2009
Following her divorce in 2007, from 'The Dream', Nivea reconciled with Wayne. She stayed with the rapper even after he had a baby with an ex-girlfriend in 2008. In June 2009, it was rumored the couple was engaged yet again and expecting a child together.
At the same time, Wayne was expecting a baby with Insta-worthy Lauren London. Wayne confirmed in October 2009 that he and Nivea were expecting a son. On November 30, 2009, the songstress gave birth to Neal Carter.
Déjà vu...Wayne and Nivea broke their engagement for the second time in June 2010.
4 Lauren London Met Wayne When She Was 15
London dated Wayne on and off for years. In May 2011, London spoke on her kinship with the "T.O." rapper, according to Heavy:
"I met Wayne when I was 15 years old. I’ve known him a very long time, and we were in a relationship that didn’t make it. We tried more than once to revive it, and we were engaged briefly years ago, but we eventually parted ways. People see the 'Lil Wayne' personality and think they know who he really is. My son’s father is an intelligent, loving, and lovable person who will always be a dear friend. And that will never change. That is all."
Wayne's second verse on "Young'n Blues" tells how he met London. His first verse on the song, "California Love", is about London as well, and how he proposed to the actress and then called it off. "And in that box, it's a ring...somebody call that thing and tell her shawty gave me back my ring."
3 Their Son Was Born In 2009
Sometime between 1999–2003, Wayne tattooed "Lauren" on his right arm (however, he tatted "Carter" over it, right before his marriage to his present ex-wife). It was his way of saying that he and London would be together forever in some way! Well, he eventually found an even better way of remaining connected to the actress: by getting her pregnant.
On September 9, 2009, Wayne and London's son, Kameron Carter, was born. Last September, the couple celebrated Kameron's 10th birthday. London took to Instagram to commemorate the event. "
"My firstborn turns 10. 9-9-09 - 09-09-19. Today Kam opened my heart 10 years ago. A gift from the highest. A consistent act of service. A gift Kameron is full of soul and a constant reminder of God's unconditional Love. My Sonshine! Happiest Birthday my Brave boy," London posted.
2 London Recently Lost Her Baby's Father To Gun Violence
Similar to Toya Wright, London also has suffered from loss due to gun violence. London started dating Ermias Asghedom, also known as Nipsey Hussle, in 2013. On August 31, 2016, she birthed the pair's son, Kross Ermias Asghedom. Hussle and London dated for 6 years, until a fateful day on March 31, 2019.
As Hussle stood outside of his clothing store in Los Angeles, a gunman ran up on him and shot him roughly 9 times in the torso/back area...and once in the head. The rapper was pronounced dead at the hospital. Hussle's killer, Eric Ronald Holder Jr., is imprisoned for murder and currently awaiting trial.
1 Wayne Has A Son With An Unknown Woman
Do you know who Sarah Vivan is? We bet 7 out of 10 of you said "Who? Heck no." Well, one, Vivan's a cohost of 'Streetz Is Watchin Radio' on Shade 45 (Eminem's hip-hop music station). Second, she is Wayne's baby mama.
In October 2008, Vivan birthed Wayne's second child and first son, Dwayne Carter III. At the time, Wayne was involved with Nivea while also fooling around with Lauren London on the side. Even throughout his controversial predicament, Vivan was somehow able to fly under the radar.
