Scott McGlynn is an actor and an activist - and he's just been recognized for his efforts in bringing about positive change for the LGBTQIA+ community, in a very big way.

We sat down with the Celebrity Skin Talk host to hear more about his nomination for the Bank of London Rainbow Colours influencer/campaigner of the year.

Plus, he shares what it means to him, to have been acknowledged in such an incredible way.

Scott Wasn't Expecting The Nomination

Despite all the campaigning he's done for the LGBTQIA+ community, Scott laughs that he had no expectations of a nomination from the Bank of London Rainbow Colours awards.

"I was shocked - everyone in my category is just incredible!" he gushes. "I'm just honored to be nominated and be with them."

Adding to his excitement is the fact that last year, he was at the awards - but in a guest's capacity.

"I had the best time, had fun with my friends, and the whole evening was magical. So now, to be a nominee, it's just amazing."

Another reason Scott didn't see the nomination coming?

He was never in it to gain recognition.

"Over the past 8 years, I've just done what I think we need to see and change. From more LGBTQIA+ youth groups and support, to changing the second-largest drug store on how we see the separation of men and women's skincare products, these are things I personally wanted to play a part in."

He's certainly done that, and then some.

In fact, it was Scott who broke the barrier between gendered skincare products, getting Superdrug beauty stores to keep everything in a single aisle.

"As it should be!" he beams.

"I think the Rainbow Honour team saw the campaign," he muses.

We're willing to bet they did!

For Scott, The Nomination Is A Great Feeling

Surprised or not, there's no denying that Scott has been blown away by his nomination.

"Just being nominated is a great feeling," he says. "I feel like the work I'm doing is being seen."

"It's an incredible category, with amazing people in it - and I've supported all of their causes over the years. Whoever wins, it's well deserved."

He adds that his younger self would be blown away by the recognition.

"My younger self would never think I'd be where I am today, with talk shows, acting, and talking to a crowd. I had zero confidence. I would never make conversation with anyone, growing up, because I was just too scared to. I was bullied from age 11 to 21. So now, doing what I'm doing is a blessing, and I tell myself how proud I am of myself."

Scott's Advice To Anyone Who Needs It

Given how far he's come, and in light of his nomination, we couldn't help but ask Scott if he had any advice to people needing it - particularly those in the LGBTQIA+ community.

"One thing I wish I took on board, growing up, is to embrace who you are, and never let people bring you down," he begins.

"Everyone is unique in their own ways, and rightly so - they should be! We have one life, one body, one chance to do what we want to do, and be who we want to be."

"So," he smiles, a glimmer in his eye, "be who you want to be. Don't waste time. Do it now, and rock it!"

Truer words were never said.
