The Golden Bachelorette's Charles L. Could Be The Next Golden Bachelor

Over the last few years, The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette have become wildly popular reality shows. As a result, The Golden Bachelorette fans see headlines about spoilers, have an interest in changes to the fantasy suites, and make commentaries about who Joan Vassos eliminated. Perhaps most notably, much of the conversation about The Golden Bachelor's first season were about Gerry Turner's reputation because of his apparent thirst for fame.

Given that Gerry has been controversial, it would make sense if the next season of The Golden Bachelor starred someone who is lovable. After Charles L. sensed that Joan was going to eliminate him, many fans have wanted to know if he could become the next Golden Bachelor.

Why Charles L. Could Be The Next Star Of The Golden Bachelor

Since the franchise premiered, Bachelor Nation has become one of the most devoted fan followings in the history of reality TV. For that reason, it often seems like Bachelor Nation fans have something new to debate each week.

When The Golden Bachelorette's first season premiered, fans were given a lot to discuss. On top of wanting to know if Joan Vassos would find love, one of those topics was about who could go on to star in the second season of The Golden Bachelor.

Since Charles L. arguably was The Golden Bachelorette's breakout star, many people thought he could become the next Golden Bachelor. Looking at that possibility, there are reasons to think that Charles L. could be tapped for The Golden Bachelor.

The first reason that fans should think that Charles L. could become the next Golden Bachelor is based on what has happened in the past.

Throughout television history, one thing has been very, very clear. The heads of the networks love to jump on any trend that gains speed. For example, Steve Urkel from Family Matters wasn't meant to be a huge deal. However, once fans had a big reaction to the character, Family Matters pretty quickly seemed to become the Urkel show.

Since Bachelor Nation fans love him so much, ABC should want to give fans more of Charles Ling. With that in mind, it seems like casting Charles L. as the next Golden Bachelor would be the obvious way ABC could keep him on air.

The second reason to think that Charles. L could become the next Golden Bachelor is what happened at The Golden Bachelorette's reunion.

If Charles L. became the star of The Golden Bachelor's second season, he would be the first man of Asian descent to headline a season of the franchise.

As can be seen in a YouTube video of the moment, Charles L. was being interviewed when someone in the audience interrupted. That person stood up and called out for Charles L. to be the next Golden Bachelor. The person who called out then suggested Charles L. could date their mom if ABC doesn't cast him as The Golden Bachelor.

"Charles, you're so sweet, so thoughtful. On behalf of Bachelor Nation, we think you should be our next Golden Bachelor... But if not, my mom is single."

The fact that fans got to see the moment of the person calling for Charles L. to be the next Golden Bachelor seems very meaningful.

First off, the moment when the person called out almost seemed planned, since they could be heard so clearly.

When the audience member called for Charles L. to be the next Golden Bachelor, there was a huge response. The fans in the audience and the stars of The Golden Bachelorette's first season in attendance seemed to be delighted by the idea.

After all, it seems odd that there would be a microphone near a random audience member if the reunion's producers weren't expecting them to speak out.

That said, even if that moment wasn't planned in any way, it still says a lot that it aired. After all, the reunion's producers made no effort to have the moment not air on national television.

During the first season of The Golden Bachelorette, Charles L. was eliminated during Week 4.

Instead, the producers zoomed in on the person who spoke out and gave them the spotlight. At the very least, that means that the producers were comfortable with the idea of Charles L. becoming the Golden Bachelor being suggested to fans.

Finally, there is another reason to think that Charles L. could become the next Golden Bachelor, which is probably the most important one of all. Since it seems pretty obvious that ABC has reasons to want to cast Charles L. again, that leaves one important question. Does Charles L. want to star in a reality show again?

Fortunately for fans who love Charles L., he was asked if he would be open to becoming the Golden Bachelor when Entertainment Weekly interviewed him in October 2024. In response, Charles L. said he would consider becoming the next Golden Bachelor if asked.

Oh, boy. It is a new idea to me. Let me see. If the opportunity knocks on my door, I'll consider.

Why Charles L. Might Not Be The Next Star Of The Golden Bachelor

Unfortunately for anyone who wants to see Charles L. become the next Golden Bachelor, there is some sad news. While Charles L. may star in a future The Golden Bachelor season, there are several people who've publicly argued that would be a bad idea.

In October 2024, Us Weekly published an article in which they quoted several The Golden Bachelorette stars. When those stars were asked if Charles L. should become the next Golden Bachelor, many of them seemed to think that would be a bad idea.

Firs off, Keith Gordon acknowledged that Charles L. has become beloved. However, Keith then stated that Charles L.'s personality wouldn't fit The Golden Bachelor. To explain, Keith stated that Charles L. would have to take "another step" before taking part in the "type of process" the Golden Bachelor goes through.

Similarly, Gary Levingston suggested that other people would fit the role of The Golden Bachelor more than Charles L. or Mark Anderson. “I think Jordan [Heller] would be a good Golden Bachelor. I think Keith [Gordon] would be a good Golden Bachelor. I think those two guys. I’d like to say Mark, but I think Mark is more reserved. Those two guys have a bigger personality that would make room for a lot of entertaining moments.”

Of course, it could be argued that what Charles L.'s former co-stars think doesn't matter. However, the unfortunate truth is that some fans also think Charles L. shouldn't be the next Golden Bachelor. For example, when a fan on the r/TheGoldenBachelorette subreddit suggested Charles L. should become The Golden Bachelor, the most upvoted response argued why that was a bad idea.

No way he can carry a season, but he would be a star on a Golden BIP.

The next most-upvoted response made virtually the same argument. "He’s not interesting enough to be the star." With those two comments in mind, it seems like at least some fans think that Charles L. shouldn't be The Golden Bachelor. While that decision obviously isn't up to fans, ABC must be aware that people have argued that Charles L. wouldn't fit the role.

All things considered, it still seems like there is a good chance that Charles L. could become the Golden Bachelor, but that certainly isn't a lock.
