Fans love to speculate about celebrities' relationships. And no coupling (and subsequent de-coupling) has drawn more attention than that of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston.
The two were together from 1998 (they married in 2000) until 2005. And though some fans think Brad Pitt is an over-hyped actor, the fact remains that plenty of them would be thrilled to see Brad and Jen rekindle their long-stale romance.
It's almost as if Brad's 11-year relationship with Angelina Jolie (not to mention their six children) has slipped fans' minds.
But let's be realistic: Brad and Jennifer run in the same Hollywood circles. They're bound to have to spend some time together eventually (like that much-gossiped-about table read for 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High'). But that doesn't mean the two will get back together.
First of all, fans are reasonably sure Jennifer had her heart broken back in the day. Remember, Brad and Angelina met while filming 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith,' and they later admitted they fell in love on set. Brad and Jennifer were still married at that point...
But other fan theories explain why Brad and Jen weren't the perfect match in the first place. One commenter on Quora posited this question: why wasn't Jennifer Aniston enough for Brad Pitt?
The most endorsed answer? The fact that Brad Pitt is a "Tarzan/Thor/Gladiator alpha male king of the jungle archetype." In contrast, Jennifer seemed "too soft and girl-next-door to command that kind of royal, domineering presence."
That Quora commenter, Melissa Lim, further supported her claims with stills from both Brad and Angelina's past movie roles. It's true: Brad and Angelina both have illustrious resumes full of warrior/Viking/gunslinging/motorcycle-riding/chainsmoking roles. And some of Brad's best performances fit into those categories, notes Vanity Fair.
What fans are insinuating is that Brad and Angie both accepted roles that were thrilling and allowed them to feed some innate need to live an adrenaline-packed lifestyle. At the same time, they also lived big in other ways.
Philanthropy, world travel (including adopting children and Angelina giving birth in Swakopmund, Namibia, plus France — talk about diversity), and the rush of being in the spotlight seemed to suit Angelina and Brad.
In contrast, Lim (and other fans) notice that Jennifer Aniston seems more like your average suburban wife who might prefer to stay home and watch Netflix rather than jet-set across the globe.
While she's perfectly nice and all, Lim writes that Aniston "seems like the non-threatening sunshine girl for the non-hunky but decent beta males carebears/softies who have more humor and heart than a brooding debonair hero or Greek god with a temper, swagger or an edge."
These days, Brad has found himself a new girlfriend in Nicole Poturalski, a model who just might be a match for the actor. But fans still wonder whether he'll ever truly settle down and whether he's really over Angelina in the first place.
