Considering the success of Olivia Rodrigo's musical masterpiece, Sour, it's natural that fans want to rock some of her album merch.

As Olivia has shot to A-list fame, breaking records left and right with her Sour album, she has created an entire merch store fully stocked with bucket hats, sports bras, jewelry, shirts, and more, so fans can show off their love for Olivia in style.

The merch is so popular that many items are out of stock and sold out until further notice. But as fans have started to receive their Sour merch, many of them have taken to social media to share their disappointment.

'Sour' Merch Slammed for Poor Quality

People are going as far as calling Olivia out for misrepresenting her products on her site. For example, one fan called out whoever made Olivia's merch for showing the product as one color on the site and receiving a different color in the mail.

Another fan shared a similar sentiment about the long sleeve Sour shirt, saying that it looked lavender online and had cuffs on the sleeves, but came without cuffs and in the wrong color.

One person even shared a video of the Sour earrings they ordered online vs. the earrings they received, which had Sour misspelled, and they noted that they couldn't undo the safety pin to correct it. Others shared that it's not only the color but also the cut of the clothing they ordered is entirely different than what was advertised on the website.

Some people even received faulty products or wrong sizes and were frustrated they couldn't receive a replacement. Olivia and her team haven't responded to the backlash or offered any sort of refund or replacement to the fans with issues.

It is important to note that not everyone is having issues with the Sour merch. Some people love it and share pics of themselves wearing it on social media.

Olivia Rodrigo Criticized for Using 'Blaccent'

The singer began trending on social media, but not precisely in the way, many would assume. A slew of resurfaced content went viral. Consequently, fans have accused Olivia of constantly talking with a "blaccent" and using AAVE in many of her past tweets and videos.

The term AAVE stands for African-American Vernacular English, a language owned by black people that can be very problematic when used by non-people of color.

One user explained on Twitter why using this language is an issue, explaining that black people have been made fun of for years by white supremacists who kept telling them that this language is "improper English."

AAVE has since become so common on TikTok and other social media platforms, as many fans have pointed out that even some of Olivia's tweets reference AAVE, including the words "homegirl" and "crine."

Why Is Olivia Rodrigo Getting Backlash?

A compilation of Livestream videos that appear to have been recorded around her drivers license debut album shows Olivia speaking with an accent, which is leaving the internet completely divided as to whether or not this constitutes as using a "blaccent."

One user felt that Olivia wasn't trying to use a "blaccent" as she "just talks like most of us Gen Z on the internet." Another fan begged everyone to stop trying to cancel Olivia for something that "isn't an issue," but to many, her videos were exactly that: A major issue.

One fan urged Olivia to address the situation as soon as possible, writing, "Apparently people are trying to defend this? Also, if you're not black, you shouldn't be apologizing or defending this on behalf of Liv. This is something she needs to address on her own."

Aside from being very offensive, this user pointed out the double standard in AAVE becoming such a normal part of the digital age. The person wrote, "It's cool and trendy for non-black people to talk like that, but black people are still scolded for using AAVE even though they invented it."

At this time, Olivia has yet to address the "blaccent" accusations, but it seems the more her fans present this issue as something that needs to be discussed, the more likely she is to deliver an explanation.

'Inappropriate' Dress Controversy

Olivia turned heads during the opening gala for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, mainly due to her stunning black Saint Laurent floor-length gown.

While the gown debuts a plunging neckline and might just be considered Olivia's most daring look to date, many have been heavily critiquing this look with claims of it being "inappropriate," especially for someone Olivia's age.

Her wardrobe instantly kicked off a massive debate about whether the singer, who is technically still considered a teenager, is too young to wear a revealing dress like this one.

On the other hand, it's important to note that Olivia is legally considered an adult, which appears to be the sentiment shared by many of her adoring fans and people pointing out that she can dress however she chooses.
