Fans were seeing signs of Ellen DeGeneres' toxic behavior long before the allegations finally came out from her former employees. There are numerous examples of interviews that went sideways, one that instantly comes to mind is Ellen alongside Dakota Johnson. She was finally confronted, saying that Dakota hadn't invited her to her party, though Ellen had totally forgotten that she snubbed Dakota's party... it made for an awkward interview and there were countless others, alongside the likes of Taylor Swift and heck, even getting into with a translator.
With all the news surrounding Ellen, fans were very upset at Jimmy Kimmel for avoiding the topic, during Ellen's first interview since the controversy. For the time being, all we have are Ellen's comments from her first show back, "I know that I’m in a position of privilege and power and I realize that with that comes responsibility, and I take responsibility for what happens at my show. We have had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about the show, our workplace, and what we want for the future," she said. "We have made the necessary changes and today we are starting a new chapter."
Prior to the controversy, certain celebs weren't afraid to answer back when Ellen made a rash comment. We can say without a doubt, Celine Dion was one of those celebs, who not only answered back but had the fans on her side.
Ellen Makes A Comment That Gets No Reaction
It started with an innocent conversation, with Celine Dion speaking about her family, Things took an awkward twist when Ellen decided to talk about Dion's kid needing a haircut, "It seems like you’re busy with something, ‘cause you’re forgetting to cut your son’s hair. Look at him. He is beautiful but look at his hair. When are you going to cut that hair?"
Most celebs would've shrugged the comment off, but not Celine. Her words regarding how she takes care of her children were spot on, "Some people shave the head of their children, and people say, 'Oh, isn't that terrible?' Well, I don't even cut my son's hair and they say, 'Oh my god, when is she going to cut her son's hair?' You know? Whatever I will do, I won't please everyone," she said. "When he's ready, I'll cut it," the singer said. "And when I cut it, they'll say, 'Oh you know what? It's a little short.'"
Fans applauded the response as the iconic singer made a great point. However, fans were none too pleased with the comment, some might call it tame compared to other things Ellen has said on her show. Nonetheless, it seems like Dion didn't take offense to the comments, she would reappear on the show years later for a performance.
