Summary

  • Madonna's kids have been actively involved in her world tour, showcasing their own talents in modeling, music, and dance.
  • Some fans were divided over the appropriateness of Madonna's 11-year-old daughter Estere's dance routine during the concert.
  • Madonna has faced criticism for her parenting methods, including international adoption, managing her children's careers, and partying with her kids and her much-younger partners.

Madonna's world tour might have been up in the air due to her health, but the songstress has taken to the stage even after illness and hospitalization to charm her fans. There have been setbacks; one of Madonna's concerts in London started late and then was also cut short due to the required ending hours at the venue.

Still, the concert series has been noteworthy for a variety of reasons, and specifically, for Madge's kids' involvement in the production. While Madonna kept her kids' lives more private when they were younger, in recent years, Lourdes, Rocco, David, Mercy, Estere, and Stella have appeared in the spotlight with their mom recently. Whether that's a good or bad thing is up to fans to decide.

Madonna is famous not just for her music; she's also renowned for her parenting, for better or worse. Namely, she seems to have given her kids free rein to explore their passions.

For her daughter Lourdes, that meant modeling and fashion at a rather young age.

David Banda's musical interests also raised eyebrows, while Madonna was always supportive of her son's creative endeavors.

Ultimately, whatever critics say about Madonna, it's clear that she has invited her kids into the world of performing arts, even involving them in her concerts.

Yet one onstage moment with Madonna's daughter Estere had fans completely divided. Some supported the singer, while others were aghast at her daughter's behavior.

During Madonna's Celebration Tour, her kids were a big part of the show. Some surprise onstage action involved Madonna's children Lourdes, Mercy, and Estere (no word on where Estere's twin was).

Mercy played the piano during the show, while Lourdes appeared onstage next to their mom and danced to "Bad Girl." Estere, however, wowed the crowd the most by dropping some epic dance moves during her mom's hit "Vogue."

Lourdes and Madonna held up "10" signs while Estere approached where they were seated, dancing her way up the stage. Notably, Estere seemed to have created her own twist on Madonna's original dance moves in the "Vogue" video, all while wearing inches-high boots that reached above her knees.

Madonna's 15 Most Popular Songs (According To Spotify)

Madonna's music spans over decades with many of her songs reaching great popularity on streaming platforms, including Spotify.

While the audience seemed thrilled, commenters re-watching the footage of Estere's dancing online were divided. For every comment that praised Estere's dancing ability, there was one that decried Madonna's parenting and criticized the "provocative" dance moves.

Estere, who turned 11 in 2023, clearly has a similar talent to her mom, but many commenters thought the tween was simply too young to be dancing in such a manner. In fact, the most-liked comments on the video of Estere dancing during Madonna's concert are the ones that suggest "Children deserve to be protected." and "Children deserve to have parents who will preserve their innocence."

Everybody’s childhood does not look the same. Madonna’s baby girl looks like she is having fun! And I love her boots. ❤

Interspersed between those comments, however, were supportive notes from fans who said things like, "That baby can vogue and was hitting it with the heels on ❤" and "She delivered 💯💯💯💯," endorsing Estere's routine.

Hundreds of comments argued over Estere's age (some assumed the dancer was Mercy, who turned 17 in 2023), while some people changed their minds about her dancing upon finding out that the girl was a tween.

She is a child and needs to be protected and loved. A child shouldn’t be doing such sexual dances on stage!

Still others defended Estere's dance as a specific art form called voguing; the dance became popular thanks to Madonna's "Vogue" video, but she wasn't the original creator of the moves.

Although the knee-high high-heeled boots aren't part of the dance, necessarily, many fans did defend Estere's moves because she was wearing a full-coverage, sparkly bodysuit to perform (rather than showing skin).

The audience seemed split nearly down the middle, with a lot of back and forth over the appropriateness of Estere's dancing and Madonna's influence on her.

Madonna Has Been Criticized For Her Parenting Methods

Many people have long criticized Madonna, for everything from how she became a mom of six (through internationally adopting four Black children) to how she's guided her daughter Lourdes through modeling and even a music career; Lourdes once called Madonna a "control freak."

Madonna also turned heads when she partied alongside her son David Banda for his 18th birthday. In the past, she has also been questioned about her kids' health; a years-ago Instagram video featuring Estere dancing had fans worried for the girl's health.
