Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham has received criticism after daughter Sophia celebrated her thirteenth birthday by getting a septum piercing. Sophia - whose birth was documented on the hit MTV show 16 and Pregnant posted a video of the procedure to her Instagram page on Wednesday.
Sophia Abraham Has A 'Punk Rock' Birthday
"I got my septum piercing for my birthday!!" the thrilled teenager wrote in her caption for her 850,000 followers.
She went on to add: "I am so happy with how it turned out! I am the first person in my family to get a septum piercing at 13!! Birthday wish came true!!"
The new teenager also showed off her punk-rock-inspired look, as she showed off her dyed purple hair, and rocked a graphic t-shirt, and a silver-chain necklace with a small padlock.
Farrah Abraham Praised Her Daughter For Her Piercing
Far from being annoyed by her daughter's piercing, Farrah was the first to jump into her daughter's comment section to congratulate her. "SOPHIA THE FIRST," she started her post, adding, "The first 13 year old in the family to get a septum piercing! Birthday wish come true! Happy memories ! Love you! Epic 13!"
But not all commentators were thrilled, with some pointing out that Sophia was too young to make such decisions.

"Are you serious. A septum piercing for a 13 year old she still a baby," one person wrote in Sophia's comment section.
"What kind of respectable piercing shop does this to a 13 year old child!!! Speechless and before anyone calls me a f**** Karen I have a 9 year old daughter! Almost 3 years younger than her kid and never in my wildest would I willingly watch my kid do this s***!! Don’t get me wrong I got piercings as a teen but BEHIND my parents back! This just wow," a second angry commenter wrote.
"And my son is 12 yrs old!! And doesn't even have a cell phone yet!! Hahaha," a third chimed in.
But some did come to Sophia and Farrah's defense.
"I had my lip, belly button and tongue when I was her exact age. It’s just a phase. Let her be. She’ll outgrow it. Leave her alone. It looks cute!" a comment read.
Sophia Abraham's Dad Died In A Car Accident
Farrah welcomed her only child Sophia in 2009. Her birth came one month after the little girl's father, Derek Underwood, passed away in a tragic car accident.
Farrah was 17-years-old and eight-months pregnant when she started filming 16 and Pregnant. In total, she appeared on seven seasons of the hit reality show. But producers found her increasing difficult to work with and fired for her decision to enter the adult entertainment industry.
