Most fans love Dave Grohl for his musical prowess as part of the band Foo Fighters. But he once enjoyed a stint on a super-famous '90s TV show, even if hardly anyone remembers that it happened.

These days, Dave's better-known as being the lead in one of the top bands from the 1990s. They formed in 1994 and haven't stopped rocking since; the group's tenth album is coming out in early 2021.

Still, Dave's been around longer than that, just not with the Foo Fighters. He was a member of Nirvana, worked with Kurt Cobain, and worked his way to the Grammy stage (multiple times).

But what about Dave's acting venture?

The year was 1996, and the show was the cult classic 'The X-Files,' and Dave Grohl was on the list of cast and crew. He may not have had a major part, but IMDb lists Dave's name in the credits for the episode 'Pusher.'

In that episode, Mulder and Scully were investigating cases that appeared to involve self-inflicted (and fatal) injuries. But all those cases came back to one shady character, who was eventually revealed to have some psychic power over people.

But no, Dave wasn't the creepy murderer-psychic. Instead, he was basically an extra. Grohl's cameo was as a "Lobby Passerby," per IMDb, and the role was uncredited.

It's not that surprising that Dave wound up with a minor role on the show, however. As Rolling Stone highlights, the Foo Fighters contributed some tunes to a compilation of songs from and inspired by 'The X-Files.' Plus, he was also a super-fan; he admitted in 2014 that he was "obsessive" about the show.

Grohl wasn't the only musician who loved the paranormal series, though; Gillian Anderson said in one interview that other rockers like The Smashing Pumpkins and even Chris Martin liked to come "hang out on set." That was beneficial for the rockin' music fans heard both on the show and the separately-releasted soundtracks.

Elaborating on Dave Grohl's "role," Gillian said, "He came to the set for one episode as an extra. He did a cameo; a drive-by. If you blink, you miss him. He ended up just being the guy in a hallway."

For Dave, though, it was a more memorable experience. In later interviews, Rolling Stone explained, Dave admitted that he'd had a huge crush on Gillian, saying he thought she was so beautiful and was sure he'd marry her someday.

As for his future on 'The X-Files,' there wasn't one, save for recording some other songs for the soundtrack. The musician is worth over $300 million, though, so he clearly doesn't need acting to pad his pockets.
