Gene Simmons Admitted He Hasn't Been The Best Partner To Shannon Tweed

Gene Simmons has been very transparent when it comes to his lifestyle as a major rock star. The KISS man has revealed that staying faithful to Shannon Tweed has not been easy, though the more he has matured, the more he values her patience.

Gene opened up alongside Us Magazine, discussing his past regrets. "In the interest of full disclosure, I have been married for more than five or six years. For 29 years … I was a jackass,” Simmons told Us. “And it’s a family show and I don’t wanna say anything that moved. I don’t wanna say that. And the astonishing thing about women is … I don’t know why, but you forgive our trespasses over and over, every single day. Guys wouldn’t do that.”

During their seven seasons together on 'Gene Simmons Family Jewels', we got to see the behind the scenes dynamic of their relationship. In truth, it would lead to several moments of tension, even during their appearances on talk shows.

Shannon Tweed Didn't Want To Hear Any Mention Of An Open Relationship

The interview in question took place years ago on Canadian television, as Tweed and Simmons sat down alongside host George Stroumboulopoulos. The interview started off on a hilarious note, with Tweed side-stepping Simmons and doing the turn of the couch to avoid him.

The interview basically discussed their time together on the reality show, and how hard it is to stay transparent while allowing cameras into their lives constantly.

Everything was smooth during the interview, until the question of open relationship was brought up. The moment can be seen at the 3:05 mark in the clip below.

"It makes me angry," Tweed responded. "We don't have an open relationship and I don't want people thinking there's an open relationship. Unless someone comes forward and says they had a relationship (pointing at Gene)."

In typical Gene style, he was making light of the situation, saying "Why don't I just kill my career now." He would then state "This morning when I woke up I had two hot nurses attending," only to be cut off by Tweed who stated she doesn't mind his sarcastic stories, as long people don't believe it.

Fans Were Supportive Of Shannon Tweed's Comments From The Interview

Fans had a lot to say about this particular interview, which was viewed by nearly one million fans. In the comments, fans were quick to praise Shannon Tweed, especially for her patience alongside Simmons after all these years.

"Shannon is a nurturing person, has a beautiful heart, & “the patience of Job” to have handled a variety of issues with Gene over the years. But in the end, they have appeared to have worked it all out & that is a testament to both of them."

"I've watched the show from the beginning. You two seem good together and for such a long time. I admire Shannon for what she has to deal with being with a famous rock star. Hell of a woman. Gene, do you not understand that it's time to slow down and have "US TIME". Time to enjoy what the two of you have shared together. Children included. Marriage isn't a bad thing. You have to love each other to be together this long. Time to :MAN UP" Genie. Sincerely, a concerned fan."

"I love Gene Simmons and KISS. I also like how Shannon lets everyone know that she is not going along with an "open relationship," although it will hurt his career as far as the women go. I would NEVER go out with another woman's man. Us women got to stick together!"

Looking at their current relationship and marriage, it seems like the two were able to weather the storm.
