On the latest episode of Sunday Sitdown, Glen Powell sat alongside Willie Geist, discussing his rise to fame. Powell spoke about his latest project that he co-wrote, Hit Man. In addition, Powell discussed some of his inspirations early on, including Denzel Washington, and how Tom Cruise also helped to shape his career.

Of course, Anyone but You was also brought up. Powell is being credited for bringing rom/coms back to the spotlight, a genre that seemed to be dead in the recent years. During the interview, Powell had a lot of praise for his co-star, Sydney Sweeney.

"What I'm really proud of is that Sydney and I took a gamble that, people would pay $15, leave the house, to show up to the theater about a movie that's about love."

Powell then revealed that he and Sweeney were eager to get started again, and continue the momentum like some of the bigger duos in Hollywood.

Geist goes on to credit Powell for saving rom/coms and, the year prior, saving theatrical movies altogether with Top Gun: Maverick. Powell admits he was hesitant to accept the role, but Tom's constant push to get him onboard changed things. Powell revealed the film, "Changed his life in so many ways."

“We’re dreaming up a bunch of different ideas,” Sweeney said of herself and costar Glen Powell. “We haven’t really solidified what we want to do yet. But we’re just dreaming up a bunch of different things and seeing what clicks best.”

Sweeney was not only a major part of the film's success on-screen, but she also played a pivotal role behind the scenes as an executive producer. The actress admitted her marketing ideas for the film were constant.

“I was on every call. I was in text group chats. I was probably keeping everybody over at Sony marketing and distribution awake at night because I couldn’t stop with ideas,” she said. “I wanted to make sure that we were actively having a conversation with the audience as we were promoting this film, because at the end of the day, they’re the ones who created the entire narrative.”

It all worked out in the end, as the film was a major success.
