Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner Says Women Won’t Stop DMing After Messy Divorce

The Golden Bachelor's Gerry Turner may not be ready to date following his split from contestant Theresa Nist — but that has not stopped women from shooting their shot in several ways.

Turner's post-divorce wounds are apparently still too fresh to "get back out there," but it seems the star already has a waiting list of eligible dates when the mood strikes him.

Although Gerry's breakup was extremely recent – even by the fast-moving standards of relationships on reality TV shows – he says women have been approaching him. A lot.

Before we get into Turner's currently bustling love life, let's take a look at what's happened so far.

Gerry Turner And Theresa Nist's Happy Marriage Was Short-Lived

Back in August, Gerry met future (and now former) wife Theresa Nist, 70, when The Golden Bachelor began filming.

The Golden Bachelor's premise is much like that of the original Bachelor, and the "Golden" part referred to the age of the titular "Bachelor" (Turner), as well as his prospective matches.

After a whirlwind courtship, Gerry and Theresa disclosed their engagement in November. On January 4th, the pair wed in La Quinta, California.

At the ceremony, their officiant gushed:

You have both given us all so much hope that it is never, ever too late to find love.

As we now know, that "hope" was sadly short-lived, as the pair jointly announced their split in early April.

Gerry and Theresa appeared on Good Morning America together to discuss the divorce, holding hands during the segment. According to Entertainment Tonight, Turner "vaguely" explained why they opted to separate, hinting at competing familial ties:

"The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations [has] been how dedicated both of us are to our families ... I think both of us feel like it's best for the happiness of each of us to live apart."

Nist alluded to the "hope" portion of their then-recent wedding ceremony, and urged viewers to stay hopeful:

"I don't think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope. We want none of that to change for anybody."

While Turner and Nist seemed to be approaching the end of their marriage in a friendly way, as is often the case, fans with their own opinions were out in force. According to Gerry's daughter, the backlash was plentiful and painful.

In a late April Instagram post, Turner's daughter Angie said:

"I kindly urge everyone to remember that behind every story, there are real people with real feelings."

During both their wedding ceremony and their divorce announcement, the theme of "hope" about finding love later in life was a big focus.

And though Gerry and Theresa's marriage didn't last long, Turner is quite possibly inspiring "hope" again — as the Golden Bachelor himself claims to be something of a babe magnet.

According to TMZ, Turner has more than his fair share of prospective girlfriends, despite being hesitant about new love in the aftermath of his divorce.

TMZ paraphrased Gerry's comments, but it seems he's even more popular than he anticipated after his split:

"Gerry says interested women are sending him direct messages on social media, and even marching up to him in public spaces -- like wineries, for example -- and giving him their numbers. While Gerry says he's graciously accepting the digits, he says he hasn't followed up with any of the hopefuls ... telling us he's flattered by their boldness, but is cautious of women who reach out to him first."

Gerry may not be entertaining the possibility of dating so soon after his post-Golden Bachelor divorce, but he also told the outlet he hoped to meet someone from his "home state," Indiana — a detail that echoed his GMA comments about what unraveled his marriage to Nist.
