Grey's Anatomy has just been renewed for season 19. While fans aren't all on board with the extension of the longest-running medical drama on TV, they're still curious about what's going to happen next. After all, Ellen Pompeo's "bad acting" aside, the show still has a few more storylines left for it to go on. But fans are starting to miss the old cast, and they don't mean the major characters like Callie Torres or Arizona Robbins. With Nick Marsh's season 18 return, they've been thinking a lot about other minor characters and where they are now. Here are the ones they wish would make a cameo in season 19.

10 Nicole Herman

If they're planning to bring back Jessica Capshaw as Arizona, bringing in season 11's Nicole with her would make a good episode or two. They could have a new case together. Maybe neither of them being the patient this time. Played by Geena Davis, Nicole made a visit in season 14 as well. After recently graduating from Blind Institute, she went to see how Arizona was doing. There, she realized that even if she could no longer operate like her former protégé, she could still teach. It would be nice to see her teach the new doctors in Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital. She might even inspire Jo Wilson into trying pediatric surgery now that she's closer to the specialty as an obstetrics and gynecology resident.

9 Sydney Heron

Now, where did this ball of sunshine go? The last time she was in the show was in season 4. She had an awful date with Derek. Then, much to the heartthrob neurosurgeon's relief, she told him she couldn't see a future for them because she's too much of a woman for him. Seriously, how could they let this rare McDreamy-resistant leave? There's no clear reason for actress Kali Rocha's exit. According to fans, that's exactly why a Sydney cameo wouldn't be so hard to write. They also want to know what she chose to specialize in all these years. Any ideas?

8 Leah Murphy

It might have been hard to love Leah with her coming between Arizona and Callie, but admit it, we're all wondering how she is these days. After getting fired in season 10 for her poor performance, she managed to get her job back in season 13 and worked with cardiothoracic surgeon, Maggie Pierce. But she suddenly disappeared shortly after her return. Fans initially thought her comeback was some significant story arch. A continuation to her story would be a nice season 19 treat.

7 Stephanie Edwards

Stephanie was one of the major characters of the show. Unlike her batchmate Leah, this fierce surgical resident had the chance to say her proper farewells to Grey-Sloan. After rescuing a trapped child from a hospital fire, Stephanie felt traumatized by the events that she needed to take some time out. She decided to stay away from hospitals for a while and said she wanted to take a sort of Eat Pray Love break for a while. She was also airlifted to Texas to continue her burn recovery. It would be nice to know how it all went for her — did she continue to pursue her medical career or did she find something else along the way?

6 Will Thorpe

Will was the first guy Meredith Grey slept with after the Derek's passing. The two met in season 12 when a team of doctors from Grey-Sloan was asked for a critical operation outside the hospital. At that time, Meredith wasn't aware that Will was flirting with her. But after ignoring his phone calls post-surgery, he went to Grey-Sloan to formally ask her out. One thing led to another and on their third date, Mer invited him up to her room. The next morning, she was hysterical. She started yelling at him, asking him to leave. She later explained she wasn't ready so he agreed to give her space. But he said he'd come back because she's worth waiting for... Well, where is he now?

5 Nurse Tyler Christian

Nurse Tyler is such an underrated character. He was there through the firsts of the original interns until season 10. He was there stirring the pressure and getting them into trouble by not keeping their secrets. It's hard not to miss this drama instigator. Since Tyler's co-nurse Olivia Harper returned in season 14 to remind everyone of that infamous Syphilis outbreak, everyone has been hoping to get a visit from him as well. We're sure he'd have some roasts prepared for Mer being the last one standing in the M.A.G.I.C. team.

4 Sloan Riley

It's such a shame that we didn't get to see Sloan after her dad Mark Sloan's death in season 8. We don't even know if she gave up her baby for adoption or not. Then-18-year-old, she had her dad's support for either decision. Fans are hoping to see what her choice was and how it worked out in season 19. Seriously, it would be nice to see how life turned out for her or at least know how she felt after her father's tragic passing.

3 Nathan Riggs

Here's another one of Meredith's post-Derek love interests. However, Riggs is far more complicated than Will. Mer's half-sister Maggie wanted him, too. Then there's his past with Owen Hunt's sister Megan. He was last seen in season 14 after moving to Malibu with Megan and her adopted son Farouk. But in early 2021, it was said that he and Megan split during the pandemic because they were not happy anymore. He then left after signing back up with his NGO. Now that Megan is worried about Farouk's heart transplant, it might be nice to see Riggs by her side again even as a friend. But we admit, we're shipping her and Cormac Hayes, another former love interest of Mer.

2 Finn Dandridge

Now for Meredith's pre/during-Derek love interest, how about a cameo from cute veterinarian Finn? The show's lead had a hard time picking between him and McDreamy in seasons 2 and 3. For the record, he was the better choice at that time — he was totally single, just as sweet, and uncomplicated, unlike Derek. Fans have been wondering about him since Mer chose Derek. But it would be tough to write him back into the show, especially with Nick in the picture. Although it might work with him as a patient.

1 Joe

How could we forget about Joe? Unfortunately, we last saw him and his bar, the Emerald City Bar in season 7. According to the actor who played him, Steven W. Bailey, he was written out of the show because they didn't think he had much use in the storyline. "They didn't find enough value in my character to continue," he revealed. "It was amicable." At least he left on good terms. Still, Joe could easily be written back into the show, even just for a catch-up episode. He was so close to the doctors as well. No wonder fans are dying to see him again.
