Ever since she first began appearing on Dance Moms, JoJo Siwa has had an impressive fan following. Her big personality helped grow a massive brand and millions of dollars, too. Over the years, JoJo has expanded her reach from simply dance shows to her own movies, concerts, and even developing a dance grew/girl group that she mentors.

But JoJo's personal life has drawn attention over the years, too, especially after she came out and began publicly dating a former friend. Yet through all the publicity, JoJo has maintained an almost spotless image, which some spectators think is a bit suspicious.

JoJo Siwa Is Pretty Beloved By Fans

JoJo got her start with Dance Moms and Nickelodeon, so her image has always been very G-rated. Along with her giant hairbows and cheery disposition, JoJo is also known for giving out inspirational advice to her followers and overall being a really sweet person.

She didn't seem to lose any fans when she came out, either, with fans instead wholeheartedly embracing JoJo and her identity.

Over time, Siwa also matured her image a bit, changing her hair (and ditching the hair bows) and her style, but she's still maintained a kid-friendly image.

In fact, some people say JoJo still acts very young for her age, and they're not sure that's necessarily a good thing.

Has JoJo Ever Had A Scandal?

The biggest scandal JoJo has really had has been tied to her penchant for acting a bit young. Some people find her style and personality uncomfortable, because she seems to be aiming for a target audience that's much younger than she is.

Nothing untoward has appeared to happen with JoJo, but some critics find her off-putting because at 19 years old (as of 2022), she acts like a far-younger teen.

Because it's part of JoJo's branding and image, most people accept that it's Siwa's goal to seem as young as possible to appeal to her fan base. But others think there might be something more sinister happening.

Even those who love JoJo aren't huge fans of her mom, former Dance Moms personality Jessalynn, and some think she's a driving force in her daughter's career, but not in a good way.

In an Unpopular Opinion Reddit thread where one critic wrote that they find JoJo Siwa "creepy and unsettling," many people had thoughts about the star's branding and persona.

The original comment called Siwa "unsettlingly harmless" but the Redditor stated they couldn't put a finger on exactly why.

At the time, the commenter had watched footage of JoJo when she was 16, noting, "it’s just bizarre watching someone who will be a legal adult in a few years bounce around in glitter and bows and personally I find it creepy."

JoJo herself has spoken about the experiences she's had and the way she's been bullied for her appearance and personality. But she never stopped being who she is, or at least, who her brand is.

Some Redditors suggested that it's not necessarily JoJo, but moreso a character that she plays, and that her mom is the driving force behind the whole thing.

One wrote, "Shes wanted to be a star her whole life and her mom made sure that happened," with some commenters pointing out that on Dance Moms, Jessalynn was practically a bully trying to get her daughter 'discovered.'

Does that mean JoJo Siwa is hiding something sinister, though?

Some people, though they didn't necessarily claim to be fans, defended JoJo and her business model and don't think she's doing anything wrong.

One wrote, "It’s obviously an act but tbh, if I could make millions acting all glittery and happy for little kids, I would." And it does seem that JoJo enjoys what she does and isn't hurting anyone.

Another person noted, "She seems pretty funny and self aware though online. It could be a character, either that or she's just a genuinely hyper person with a positive attitude. I think she's good for kids though and doesn't deserve the flak she gets."

Clearly, as JoJo gets older, she will change her approach to her branding and personal life.

But on the heels of a recent breakup, a video was shared to Jessalynn's social media in which JoJo paces and says she's been "used" for clout by an ex.

Jessalynn's involvement seemed a bit uncomfortable to some onlookers, and while JoJo may be unhappy about her breakup, broadcasting personal business online departs from her brand a bit.
