MTV’s Teen Mom created a wide array of new and young stars. Although the third installment of the groundbreaking reality series did not make it past the first season, fans are still curious about what these famous moms are up to now. Many people wish the best for these mothers. Others are critical, but curious.
Most of the ladies featured on Teen Mom (if not all) have explored different careers, relationships, and lifestyles. Farrah Abraham sure did, didn't she? A few have stepped away from the whole Teen Mom thing because they want to try other things and live in a different way.
If you want the inside scoop on these moms, keep reading. There is so much to learn about their lives that you probably don't already know.
Updated January 2025: While the moms have all gone in different directions post-TV, some of them, like Farrah Abraham, Kailyn Lowry and Chelsea DeBoer, have found fame through other mediums. Others are raising kids with current partners or co-parenting with former partners. Most appear to be thriving, regardless of the path they're on, but sadly, Jordan Cashmyer passed away in 2022 from struggles with addiction.

16 Farrah Abraham: Living Her Best Life
Farrah Abraham has seemingly been enjoying a most lavish lifestyle since she left her parents' home in 2018 after appearing on 16 And Pregnant, the precursor to Teen Mom. While known as one of the most controversial stars of the show, especially since she dabbled in sex work and often makes headlines for public meltdowns, Farrah has also written books, released an album, appeared on other reality shows, and faced legal challenges.
She's raising daughter Sophia, who is now 15 years old, and while some may disagree with her parenting decisions (like letting Sophia get pierced when she was underage), the mother-daughter duo appear happy and well-adjusted.
In 2024, Farrah gave an interview to Interview Magazine and discussed her life after Teen Mom and what she wants to be remembered for.
I think the best thing to be remembered for is not wearing a mask. Show your reality. Be authentic. You do not need to hide who you are. You don’t need to build a persona. I say in one of my songs, "Being yourself is making you famous." Sorry to do another music shout-out. But a lot of people like to put all these identities on me. "You’re a porn star, you’re just a teen mom, you’re just an actress, or you’re just this, you’re just that." You can be whatever you want and you don’t have to wear any of the masks that people put on you.
15 Amber Portwood: Legal Drama And A Messy Engagement
Amber Portwood has remained on TV through Teen Mom spin-offs like Teen Mom: The New Chapter. However, her life since giving birth to her daughter Leah at age 18 on reality TV has been anything but smooth.
In 2018, she gave birth to her second child, a son named James, with her former beau, Andrew Glennon. However, in 2025, Amber does not have full custody of either of her children (she shares custody of Leah with ex, Gary Shirley). Her relationship with Leah has been difficult, and has been portrayed on the latest seasons of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. It's no secret that Amber continues to struggle in the parenting department.
She's also been arrested multiple times, and spent time in rehab. In 2024, Amber made headlines after she announced she was engaged to Gary Wayt. But the happiness didn't last long, as Gary was reported missing following a fight with Amber. While Gary was eventually found, their engagement was called off, which is probably for the best.
14 Jenelle Evans: Finally Left Problematic Husband
Jenelle Evans’ estranged husband, David Eason, has caused her problems since they got together. As of 2025, the two are separated, but trouble continues to find Jenelle in the form of rumors that she's being investigated by CPS.
While her leaving David is a step in the right direction, it seems that wherever Jenelle goes, drama follows.
13 Kailyn Lowry: The New Queen Of BookTok
In 2025, Kailyn Lowry appears to be thriving. She's no longer on TV, but she has a popular podcast and has made a name for herself in the book world, of all places.
Kailyn currently has seven children with four different fathers, and she's engaged to Elijah Scott, who is the father of three of her children. Kailyn and her kids have a heavy social media presence, and in 2024, she sat down for an interview with the Wall Street Journal about how her somewhat newfound love of reading sparked a new career path.
"Reading wasn’t a major part of Lowry’s life growing up. But several years ago she decided she was spending too much time 'doom scrolling' on her phone or laptop. 'I didn’t have a lot of hobbies and realized I needed to be more productive,' she said. 'I started reading books, and then posted about them, and it evolved from there,' she said."
Famed authors like Colleen Hoover, Jodi Picault and Kathleen Glasgow have appeared on her podcast, Barely Famous.
"'People don’t necessarily think teen mothers do much. I hope this gives us a better name,' she said."
12 Catelynn Baltierra: Still Fighting For Time With Carly
High school sweethearts Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra have been married since 2015 and are the parents of three daughters, in addition to the one they gave up for adoption while on 16 And Pregnant.
Since appearing on the show, they've appeared on numerous other reality shows. And while their adoption was groundbreaking and heartbreaking at the time it aired, the drama has not subsided. They are still battling for time with their daughter, Carly, with her adopted parents, Brandon and Teresa, who appeared on the show.
11 Maci Bookout: Family Is Thriving
Maci Bookout appeared on 16 And Pregnant after finding herself pregnant by her high school boyfriend, Ryan Edwards. Today, Maci is happily married to Taylor McKinney, whom she married in 2016. The two have two kids, in addition to her son, Bentley, with Ryan.
Maci has largely remained out of the scandal spotlight, though the same can't be said for Ryan. He has publicly struggled with sobriety throughout the years, and his estranged relationship with his son Bentley suffered. Ryan also had a messy breakup with wife Mackenzie Standifer.
Today, Ryan appears to be living a more healthy lifestyle. He's engaged to Amanda Conner and the two are expecting a baby. He's also appeared to reconciled with both Maci and Bentley, with Maci offering to babysit on Instagram.
10 Leah Messer: Raising Three Daughters
Teen Mom's Leah Messer, who appeared on the show after getting pregnant with twins Aliannah and Aleeah with ex, Corey Simms, is the happy mom of three daughters today. Their struggles were made worse when Aleeah was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy.
Today, Leah is single after breaking off her engagement to Jaylan Mobley in 2022.
She shares daughter Adalynn with ex, Jeremy Calvert. While she appears to be on good terms with Corey, her relationship with Jeremy is another story. In 2024, she filed a protective order against him.
Still, while her oldest two daughters are now 15 (Aliannah got her learner's permit in late 2024), Leah is still focused on raising happy, healthy daughters.
9 Chelsea DeBoer: Enjoying Wholesome Family Living On HGTV
Chelsea DeBoer (née Chelsea Houska) won fans over on Teen Mom with her realistic portrayal of the life of a young mom with a troubled baby daddy. Today, she's happily married to Cole DeBoer and the two have a home renovation show on HGTV called Down Home Fab. They are the parents of three, in addition to the daugher she shares with ex Adam Lind. By all measures, Chelsea appears to have broken free from the "teen mom" title and earned new fans from her new show, eager to follow along on their adventures.
8 Briana DeJesus: Recently Married
Briana DeJesus appeared on Season 4 of 16 And Pregnant, when she found herself pregnant with her boyfriend, Devoin Austin. The two had Nova, and then she had another daughter, Stella, later on with Luis Hernandez.
In 2024, she married her fiance, Steven, in Hawaii.
7 Katie Yeager: Living Out Of The Spotlight
Katie Yeager (who now goes by Katie Thayn) has remained largely out of the spotlight since appearing on Teen Mom 3. Her Instagram bio reads: "mom. advocate. book worm. educator."
In 2017, she told E! News she was living in Utah and happily in a new relationship. It appears that in addition to daughter Molli, she has another daughter, who
