Hot Ones is a hit show on YouTube where the host, Sean Evans, puts celebrities to the test by making them eat ten very hot wings while engaging them in various conversations, including their latest projects. Sean's ability to maintain the conversation with a straight face while downing those hot wings is absolutely remarkable.
Granted, some celebrities, just like Sean, eat their hot wings like pros, but according to the host, they certainly pay for it later. The focus of this article, however, is not on which celebs have been able to eat their wings like a pro, but rather which ones have not able to handle the heat. From DJ Khaled to Bobby Lee, we’re about to rate the craziest Hot Ones Fails.
10 DJ Khaled
DJ Khaled has been referred to as one of the worst performers on the show to date, with his record being consuming three wings. At one point, he stated he was skeptical that his wings were as spicy as Sean’s and even asked to swap plates. He started confidently labeling the wings "finger-licking-good" and "amazing," which led the audience to believe that he would push through all ten wings. Later on, though, barely into the second wing, he was already maxing out, as he asked, “Who the hell picked these sauces?!”
9 Taraji P. Henson
From coming to the show intoxicated to having her bodyguard finish the challenge for her, Taraji P. Henson was definitely one of the more famous "fails" on Hot Ones. Fans were openly disappointed in her performance, with some even asking for a full episode with just the bodyguard and terming him as "the man of the hour." Taraji did however make this particular episode interesting, with some viewers calling her "hilarious and talented."
8 Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish brought in great energy and fun to the show, but she definitely struggled with the heat of the wings throughout the interview.
She drank as many drinks as she could, and when that wasn't enough, she ended up putting ice cubes in her mouth to try and stop the heat she was struggling with. However, throughout it all, she was a great guest and was really fun to watch.
7 Joey Diaz
Being a comedian, Joey Diaz is definitely not afraid to speak his mind. Thankfully Hot Ones allowed this interview to go uncensored, so we witnessed his authenticity as he took on more and more heat. Joey is known to be a heavy smoker who can withstand more than the average man, but this immunity clearly doesn’t stretch out to consuming spicy wings. With the blue cheese not being able to help him, fans witnessed his reaction go from funny to quite scary. By the end of it, his t-shirt is drenched with sweat and his face was as red as a tomato.
6 Shaquille O'Neal
Former NBA superstar, Shaq came off as a bit of a jerk to Sean Evans during his episode of Hot Ones. He started by bragging about how he would not make any facial expressions in regard to the hot sauces. To many fans, this made him sound like he thought he was above the show and that it was a a waste of his time. Shaq ended up making several facial expressions, especially when drinking the milk. Furthermore, he refused to eat the last wing by deciphering games and challenges that would make himself opt-out. Fans were not too impressed with his performance.
5 Ricky Gervais
Ricky Gervais was one of the guests who was not able to finish all the spicy wings, owing to the heat being too much for him to handle. He was seen struggling from the get-go and made hilarious reactions to the wings. His episode was one of the funniest, as was expected. Ricky clearly does not enjoy spicy foods, and he did not make it to the last wing.
4 Eddie Huang
Eddie Huang chose to not go the traditional route of the show, he decided to go for the hottest wing first and work his way backward... a choice he later regretted. After eating a few wings, Eddie had to go to the bathroom to regain his composure. After returning to his seat, he decided not to continue on with the eating and only engaged in the conversation with the host, Sean Evans. Fans of the show shamed Huang in the comments for not being able to complete the challenge.
3 Charlie Day
It was clear to many fans that Charlie Day was only on Hot Ones as a PR obligation. His responses were vague, and he seemed to want to rush through the interview. One YouTube user commented "does anyone else get the feeling that he just absolutely and totally hates PR stuff lol." This obviously affected many people's opinion on Day, which is sad considering fans previously thought of him as a kind and funny actor. He, however, seemed to open up during the show as it went along.
2 Gordon Ramsay
Without a doubt, Gordon Ramsay's struggle with the heat on Hot Ones was hilarious. Despite being one of the greatest chefs in the world, with a vast exposure to different foods, he was terrible at dealing with the hot sauces and even asked to use the bathroom at some point. Gordon couldn't cope with the hot wings and was seen mainly eating and drinking different drinks and snacks that he brought to the show. This made host Sean Evans extremely nervous during production. In order to finish the last wing, he poured lemon juice all over it to turn down the heat. This episode was, however, exciting to watch.
1 Bobby Lee
This comic was definitely one of the more disgusting guests on Hot Ones for fans. Bobby Lee ignored his body's limitations and decided to push through, making it a horrific experience for host Sean Evans. Towards the end, viewers saw Bobby Lee presumably soiling himself. Although it was never officially confirmed, the look of shock on his and Evans' face, plus a Bobby Lee saying, "I literally just soiled myself" made it safe to assume he really did soil himself.
