The world of Hollywood is full of many talented actors and entertainers, however, there are very few celebrity siblings who bring it when it comes to the film industry. James and Dave Franco are amongst two of the most well-known stars when it comes to comedy and dramas! Whether you know James Franco from his early work in 'Spider-Man', or Dave and his hilarious performance in 'Bad Neighbors', there is no denying the ample talent these two bring to the big screen!

While the industry can be quite competitive, these two have risen above the pressure and simply do what they love! Although James Franco has been in the business for longer than his younger brother, Dave, it appears as if the two have a great personal and professional relationship, but that certainly didn't come naturally! How close are the two? Let's find out!

How Close Are The Franco Brothers?

James Franco first came to prominence in 1999 when he was cast in the hit NBC series, 'Freaks and Geeks'. It didn't take much time before Franco was appearing in more and more productions, however, it was in that same year that he appeared in 'Never Been Kissed', and 'Whatever It Takes', a year later. Franco is most recognized for his role as Harry Osborn in the 2002 film, 'Spider-Man', in which he played alongside Toby Maguire. It was clear that James had made a name for himself in the industry, but he wouldn't be the only Franco for much longer.

It was in 2006 that Dave Franco made his acting debut on the CW drama show, '7th Heaven'. Dave would later go on to appear in 'Superbad', '21 Jump Street', and of course, 'Bad Neighbors'. While Dave joined the game nearly a decade after his big brother, the two couldn't avoid the constant comparisons, which didn't do anything great when it came to their personal relationship. Although James and Dave, who are 7 years apart, have always remained close growing up, their time under the spotlight certainly created some tension.

As the two were constantly compared and said to share the same mannerisms and acting style,  "As much as I love and respect my brother", Dave said, "I've had to distance myself from his work-wise", he told Irish Times. The actor went on to explain how the comparisons could not be further from the truth, claiming that he and James have "very different personalities".

Dave made it clear that the two have never had a rift or falling out due to their collective success in Hollywood, but in order to be taken seriously and be a credible actor, Dave felt the need to separate himself from James, hence why the two refrained from shooting together, that is until their work on their 2017 film 'The Disaster Artist', which secured both of them a Golden Globe win!
