- Despite being only 33 years old, some critics believe Robbie looks older than her age, which she finds frustrating and has addressed in interviews.
With each film that Margot Robbie is the lead actor in, the higher her star power grows, and the more lavish lifestyle she is able to lead. With this growing fame that has given the Australian native A-list status comes a lifestyle that most could only dream of. However, having this level of exposure also makes fans and detractors alike believe they can make any comments they want while hiding behind their computer screens, including the fact that Robbie appears to be years older than her age.
There is no denying that Robbie is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood today. That beauty, in conjunction with her talent, has helped The Wolf of Wall Street star, who famously silenced the room while filming a scene with Leonardo DiCaprio, land roles in films that have grossed hundreds of millions of dollars. More often than not, interviews revolve around the projects that Robbie is working on or a fun little game that has a theme associated with her latest project.
Occasionally, however, the topic can turn to something Robbie finds uncomfortable, which of late revolves around her age. While she takes it in stride, it is clear that the I, Tonya star is not happy to find out fans think she is older than she is, a fact that could stem from women aging in Hollywood equates to fewer roles and most definitively, fewer leading roles to choose from.
Margot Robbie Is A Good Sport In Interviews
If there is one thing that Robbie has become incredibly skilled at over the past several years, it is being a good sport when it comes to the press junket interviews she has to attend to promote her movies.
These interviews can span over an entire day, which is understandably exhausting. But regardless of the subject matter, the Suicide Squad star, who got in superhero shape to bring Harley Quinn to the big screen, always has a great response and a fantastic attitude to match.
An interviewer once asked Robbie what she did to relax at the end of the day. Rather than an answer like reading a good book or curling up and watching television, Robbie gave an answer many were not expecting, which was that she enjoys a beer shower after learning about just what that was from a wardrobe stylist.
"She said she drinks an ice-cold beer in a boiling-hot bath or shower, and it made her sleep. I was like, 'That sounds perfect!'" Robbie explained. "So now when I get home from work, I have a beer shower or a beer bath if I have time."
Other interviewers have asked how Robbie feels about Barbie being considered "sexy," a question that could be off-putting but being the consummate pro, Robbie answered the question with ease.
"I’m like, ‘Okay, she’s a doll. She’s a plastic doll. She doesn’t have organs. If she doesn’t have organs, she doesn’t have reproductive organs. If she doesn’t have reproductive organs, would she even feel sexual desire?’" Robbie stated.
"No, I don’t think she could. She is sexualized. But she should never be sexy."
Of course, the line of questioning for films where Robbie's body is more on display than others would not be complete without Robbie being asked what her diet and workout regimen look like. While most would give a standard answer of clean eating, Robbie explains how her diet is different when filming versus her daily routine.
"I'm not good at moderation," Robbie explained. "I get miserable if I don't eat. I can't just have a salad every day and half a glass of wine every second day. I can't do it."
Robbie went on to say, "I don't have a very good diet. I love beers, fries, burgers, but if I have to get in a bikini then I'll eat carrot sticks for three days. I'm one extreme or the other. Chocolate, waffles and fries are the main food groups that make up my diet."
However, when preparing for a role or when trying to eat cleaner, Robbie does stick to a diet that consists of "porridge and a green smoothie for breakfast, salad and lemon chicken for lunch, and fish (preferably tuna) with baked vegetables for dinner."
It appears to be more of an all-or-nothing approach that so many can identify with and the type of diet that keeps the Birds of Prey star looking young, even if some believe she appears older than her age.
Fans Don't Believe Margot Robbie's Actual Age
Robbie was born on June 2, 1990. That means in 2023, she turned 33 years old. Most would say that Robbie looks fantastic, healthy, and has a youthful glow about her. However, based on internet searches, some critics believe that the Babylon star looks far older than her age, a comment that Robbie does not particularly care for.
During an interview conducted a few years ago by fellow actor, Saoirse Ronan, the top internet searches for Robbie were revealed. One of which was, "How old is Margot Robbie?"
"I'm 28," Robbie revealed at the time. Robbie continued, stating, "Although I see on the internet a lot of people being like, 'Oh, 28, more like 38.' And I'm like, 'Oh, I mean, I can show you my birth certificate. I really am.'"
To put in perspective Robbie's age, her contemporaries, such as Emma Watson, Sarah Hyland, and Jennifer Lawrence were also born in 1990. Taylor Swift was born in 1989.
Perhaps it is because of the status that Robbie has reached in Hollywood that she is viewed as older than she is. Because, even after learning her true age, fans still have a hard time believing Robbie is as young as she is.
