Who knew the hit film, The Wedding Singer, would be the start of a friendship that spanned over two decades and counting? Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore met back in 1998 on the set of this romantic comedy. Not only did this film mark the beginning of a great friendship, but it also showed us what Sandler and Barrymore were capable of as actors. Drew Barrymore was only 22 years old at the time. She started off as a child actor in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and then appeared in a string of successful films in the 90s including Poison Ivy, Boys on the Side, Mad Love, Batman Forever, Scream, and Ever After. After The Wedding Singer, Barrymore starred in the iconic two-part movie installment, Charlie's Angels, alongside Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz.

Even though Drew didn't star in this film with her buddy, she was still there by his side for his moment of glory. The 2019 American crime thriller was a success and Sandler won the lead actor prize for his performance as Howard Ratner.
Drew gave a sentimental speech that left the SNL alum choked up.“You are capable of everything, and I have believed in that since before I met you, which is why I met you. I think this moment, honestly, could not be more deserved." Barrymore added, "You deserve the best, you give the best and you are the best. I love you very much, and I'm so happy to be here tonight to give you best actor from the National Board of Review."
Sandler was visibly moved by his friend, stating, “Drew, that was amazing. You were just saying all of that stuff and it was amazing.
