Kate Beckinsale's recent interview on The Howard Stern Show has received a ton of press. While some thought it was a disaster, especially with the backlash about her comments about her incredibly high IQ, most fans who actually listened to the nearly two-hour interview knew it was an insane success. In fact, it was one of the best Stern interviews in a long time. Not only were Howard's questions great, but Kate was utterly comfortable speaking with him. She exposed a lot about her life, her history, and even harmlessly flirted with the self-proclaimed King Of All Media. Best of all, Kate was totally cool enough to have some fun Stern Show-style. Specifically, Kate was all-in on setting up her assistant with one of Howard's well-paid staffers.
Fans of The Howard Stern Show know that most of his staffers are celebrities in their own right. They appear on his SiriusXM radio show, reveal a lot about their lives, tease and get teased, and even have millions of fans of their own. Some of his staffers cause controversy while others add a distinct flavor to his show. This includes writer, producer, and actor Chris Wilding. The openly gay man usually shares a lot about his personal life with Howard and the rest of his colleagues. So much so that Howard was inspired to try and set him up.
Who Is Kate Beckinsale's Assistant?
At the end of Kate Beckinsale's nearly two-hour-long interview on The Stern Show in October 2021, Howard caught sight of Kate's assistant, Jarret Sackman. Throughout the interview, Kate was referring to someone off-screen named Janet. Turns out, 'Janet' is the nickname everyone calls Jarret, her openly gay executive assistant.
On Jarret's LinkedIn page it claims he has worked for Tea Time Films (presumably Kate Beckinsale's company) for over 4 months. Prior to that, Kate had another handsome young gay employee that made the news. Kate's previous assistant, Stephen Simbari, was spotted getting super cozy with the Underworld star on numerous public outings. Given his much younger age and their level of PDA, numerous outlets believed that he and Kate were dating. But, in reality, Stephen was her assistant and is also part of the LGBTQA+ community.
Much like Janet, he was more like her son/best friend. While we don't know precisely what happened to Stephen, Kate no longer follows him on Instagram, although she does follow what appears to be Stephen's sister, Stephanie. Kate's daughter, the gorgeous Lily Mo Sheen, however, does still follow Stephen. Based on a comment made during her interview with Howard, Stephen may have met someone and moved away. That's how she ended up with Janet.
Setting Up Janet And Chris Wilding
Even though Howard's staffer Chris Wilding has spoken about his recent South American doctor boyfriend, Howard attempted to hook him up with Kate's assistant as soon as he saw him on camera.
"Oh, Janet [Jarret Sackman], you're a handsome dude. You're much younger than I thought!" Howard said to Kate's assistant during the Zoom interview. After Howard had Janet explain what he did for Kate on a day-to-day basis, he presented him with the Chris Wilding idea. "I got a guy for him."
"I'm always looking for him. Because I think Janet is so handsome," Kate Beckinsale said, loving the idea.
"You want a guy? I got a guy here for you," Howard said.
"Send him my way, Howard," Janet replied.
Then Howard started asking for his staffer Chris to jump on the Zoom call. However, Howard had to buy time since Chris wasn't immediately responding.
"One of the guys who works for me is gay and I'm looking at Janet and I think they'd make an excellent match," Howard said, referring to the fact that Chris and Janet have some similar physical features. "He's a young man. He's a very talented man. And Janet gives me the vibe that it would kind of work."
"I'm so into this! Somehow you have to get him to us," Kate said to Howard of Chris. "I love this type of s***!"
Finally, Chris popped in on the interview, shocking Kate due to his resemblance to her assistant: "My God! Twins! That's a bit weird," she laughed.
"What do you think, Chris, you getting a vibe off Janet?" Howard asked.
"Ah... yeah," Chris said checking Kate's assistant out. "I'm into it."
"Look at us, Howard, we are bringing young people together," Kate said.
As Chris and Janet started to flirt before the eyes of their extremely famous bosses, Chris revealed that he is actually getting quite serious with his new boyfriend and therefore things between him and Janet probably couldn't work out. But Howard jumped in saying that Chris' boyfriend doesn't even live in the U.S. most of the time and therefore he should find himself someone local.
Because Howard had a point, Chris started to ask Janet some personal questions to see if they were compatible. But given that it's The Howard Stern Show, Chris went right for the inappropriate sexual questions which made Kate somewhat defensive of her assistant. However, Janet seemed all in on what Chris was asking.
Howard then joked that he thinks it would be better for the show if Chris dated Kate Beckinsale's assistant to which Chris said that he would do it for that reason. The next week, Chris told Howard that his boyfriend had heard the show and was legitimately worried that Chris would do this.
Neither Chris nor Janet seemed offended by this bit. In fact, they both seemed to love the moment in the spotlight that was orchestrated by Howard and Kate. While there was a vibe between Chris and Janet, it appears the Stern Show staffer is now in a committed relationship. At least, for the time being...
