Deux Moi snoops are at it again on Reddit. They're trying to break down one of the latest "blind items" and a whopping majority are guessing the unsightly rumor is based on Hugh Grant.
While Hollywood may look like a large, overarching hand in society, the community that populates it is quite small. That's why reputations are of the utmost importance, and Grant's is at stake.
Acting Like A Diva
The anonymous tip posted by Deux Moi hinted, "'Actor' is widely known on set by crew members as 'his name' the c*nt. Awful actor to work alongside by all accounts. Block out his name if needs must."
Fans' minds immediately jumped to romantic comedies like Bridget Jones' Diary in which Grant played the intellectual British heartthrob, plus a tinge of loveable pompousness.
He's never been the down-to-Earth character, and perhaps there's some truth to directors' casting decisions. Lots of Deux Moi followers commented on the whispers they've heard about the actor's professional behavior.
One UK resident said, "He’s been known as a crotchety grumpy ass for years and years. I think this is him. I could see younger people in the states thinking he's B list," regarding the debate about Deux Moi categorizing Grant as B-list.
Another Redditor recounted their own story, "He was a guest on a talk show our close friend worked for, worst guest they’ve ever had...."
Reddit Defends Hugh
Other movie lovers, however, defended the Love Actually star. They stated that he's surprisingly self-aware about his reputation and has worked to revamp his actions as he's gotten older.
Reddit user @gunsof countered, "He apparently had a history before of being a dick, but he's definitely very self-aware. I'd imagine he's mellowed out quite a bit now. I waitressed an event he was at and everyone who interacted with him said how friendly he was to the staff."
According to a 2021 article by The Independent, Grant has been banned from The Daily Show by Jon Stewart. That was over a decade ago, but we're guessing that if he treated staff that poorly, there are surely more stories to partner Stewart's distaste.
Many people, hopefully, learn from their past and are able to grow into their enlightened selves after addressing harsh truths. In Grant's case, we hope he's become a kinder person when the cameras are off.
