In a genre typically dominated by men, the rap scene has gained an increasing amount of prominent female artists within the past decade. Many rappers are known to "beef" with one another, such as 50 Cent and The Game or more recently, Drake and Pusha T, and female rappers are no exception to these kinds of feuds.

While it is known that being a woman in the music world can be complicated, it's clear that female artists are often pitted against each other by their fans and the media, or often go against one another similar to their male counterparts. From those who have been around for years such as Queen Latifah, to those with more recent sucess like Cardi B, below is a list of some of the most known and publicized feuds within female rap.

8 Lil Kim And Foxy Brown

Originally close friends, the root of Lil' Kim and Foxy Brown's issues began in late 1996 when their respective debut albums Hard Core and Ill Na Na were set to be released within the same week. In the years following, the two went through a cycle of diss tracks and verses, as well as reconcilation attempts. After Kim went to prison for nearly a year, she no longer spoke of Brown in conversations or songs. On the other hand, Brown has made various verbal attacks towards the self-proclaimed "Queen Bee" through performances and songs.

"I don't know who she is these days," said Kim in a 2012 interview with The Breakfast Club.

7 Queen Latifah And Foxy Brown

Around the same time of Brown's disputes with Lil' Kim, she also feuded with Queen Latifah, accusing her of "checking her out" and making unwanted advances. Previously, Brown believed Latifah's song "Name Callin" was a diss track directed at her, though Latifah never confirmed or denied this until she released "Name Callin Part 2," where she claims Brown relies on her sexual image to hide her poor rap skills. The two eventually made up, as Latifah invited Brown to perform on her talk show in 2000 to promote her second album Chyna Doll.

6 Trina And Khia

The feud between rappers Trina and Khia goes over a decade back, though it did not gain further traction until the past few years during the rise of the social media age when Khia began her web series The Queen's Court, where she often dissed Trina. Previously, the "My Neck My Back" rapper openly criticized Trina's 2008 album Still Da Baddest. In 2017, Trina took to Instagram Live to seemingly address her haters, which most viewers believed was directed towards Khia.

5 Azealia Banks And Iggy Azalea

Just one of the people on the list of artists Azealia Banks has disputed with is Iggy Azalea. After Azalea announced she left her record label in 2018 due to various issues, Banks became amused and poked fun at Azalea's career. This led to a series of tweets between the two making comments about one another's career letdowns.

4 Nicki Minaj And Remy Ma

When Nicki Minaj released the song "Dirty Money" in 2007, Remy Ma believed the song was about her, even though Minaj never mentioned the song being directed at anyone. In 2017, Ma released a song titled "Shether," the single cover for which consisted of a Barbie doll replicating Minaj in blood. In response, Minaj released a song "No Frauds" with Lil Wayne and Drake. Though the feud remains unresolved, Ma did express regret over the "Shether" diss track due to the difficulties of being female in the music business.

"It just bothers me that, this record that I put out, where it’s literally picking apart a female, went so viral," Ma said on the Another Round podcast. "We could have done the same thing, working together."

3 Remy Ma And Foxy Brown

In the early years of Remy Ma's career, she was accused of not showing Foxy Brown respect as a veteran female rapper. The two openly discussed their dislike for one another and even engaged in a physical altercation. As time went on, they continued to diss each other in various interviews throughout the years. In a 2020 interview with Wendy Williams, she said she still wasn't on good terms with Brown, though spoke positively of Lil' Kim.

2 Nicki Minaj And Cardi B

After Cardi B achieved mainstream success post-Love & Hip Hop, many began spreading rumors about a beef between her and Nicki Minaj, though the two denied any issues with one another, with Minaj congratulating Cardi for "Bodak Yellow" topping charts. The two also were pictured speaking to each other at the Met Gala in May 2018. A few months later, Cardi allegedly threw a shoe at Minaj at a New York Fashion Week after party. Cardi accused Minaj of liking and agreeing with social media comments directed at her, which the latter denied.

1 Lil' Kim And Nicki Minaj

The most well-known female rap feud in the early 2010s, Lil' Kim and Nicki Minaj's beef was highly publicized. Kim accused Minaj of copying her looks and also stealing her sound from unreleased material. When Minaj released her debut album Pink Friday in late 2010, the song "Roman's Revenge" was allegedly directed at Kim's disses of Minaj. A few months later, Lil' Kim's mixtape Black Friday (an imitation of Minaj's debut album title) was released, with the cover showing a picture of Minaj's head decapitated with blood. The two threw jabs at each other throughout the years, though it seems to have calmed down, as Kim said she would do a Verzuz battle with Minaj.
