Christine Quinn has always been painted as the villain in Selling Sunset. It started with her ongoing feud with Chrishell Stause. But since season 5 premiered, fans are starting to think that Stause may actually be "the real villain" in the show. In one of the new episodes, the girls seemingly ganged up on Quinn during her heated argument with Amanza Smith at a broker's open. New girl, Chesea Lazkani sided with Quinn and thought the girls were bullies. A lot of fans agree, saying that Stause is also "fake nice." Here's the reality star's response.

Why Fans Think Chrishell Stause Is A Bully

Months before season 5, a Redditor already noticed that "Chrishell is the real villain but y'all aren't ready for that conversation…" Many other viewers agreed. They think Stause is just putting up a sweet facade. "I'm on the fence with Chrishell. I think Mary and Heather are the only up front honest ones and what you see is what you get with them," a fan commented. "Chrishell built her popularity and on screen persona as the innocent one who got bullied and dumped."

"I know girls like her. They seem so nice and sweet but end up being very sly behind the scenes," they continued. "Chrishell did steal Mary away from Christine and I know it's immature to say this but Mary is a little too laid back and easier swayed than the others. She has a good heart and wasn't going to turn on someone who was being portrayed as a victim. Chrishell seemed really cocky this season and smug. I think she can def be a bully and definitely has a side to her I don't trust."

In January 2022, Stause was also called out by fans for her "annoying" personality. The former soap opera star quickly addressed the comments. "When people watch #sellingsunset & get annoyed by my personality. Honestly, same," she tweeted, adding that she's trying to fix it. "I think years of auditioning clicks a weird part of my brain when speaking to camera to be 'ON' and I am working on it. Lol. But girl just relax. By the time we're cancelled I'll get it."

This time, fans are targeting the realtor's relationship with the boss, Jason Oppenheim. "The fact that Chrishell thinks she has the authority to tell Jason to fire Christine, is the exact reason why she shouldn’t be in a relationship with boss #sellingsunset," one tweeted. Another user agreed, saying: "This is probably unpopular opinion but Chrishell has been messy. It’s scary how obsessed she is with Christine. How do you go to trying to get Jason to fire her? Then question if Chelsea even sell real estate. This sleeping with boss got to her head #SellingSunset."

Fans also noted that Lazkani was right about the girls being bullies. "When a bunch of people gang up on one person, that's bullying, what part of psychopathic bullies don't understand this? I LOVE how direct she is," a Redditor said of that explosive episode. "Christine is also a d--k but no one deserves to be ganged up on and I used to love Chrishelle but she got way too big for her boots." Another fan explained the reason fans are attacking Stause is because "she plays the victim and can be mean under the surface which she gets away with." One added that it has something to do with the realtor wanting to be liked by everyone.

"I don't hate her I just think she tries to save face a lot. Season 1 Christine was an asshole at the pool party but her and Davina were right. Chrishell did make comments about Mary and Romain and it’s bs that they were 'just questions' she clearly had an opinion. She feigned That she had forgotten to save face, but who forgets entire conversations like that? She should have just owned it," explained the Reddit commenter. "I've just noticed small things like that happen a lot. I don't think she has malicious intent, I wouldn't even really say she's fake. I just think that she wants people to like her. I think she places value in behaving a way that is going to be the most polite and socially acceptable."

Chrishell Stause's Response To Claims That She's A Bully

Stause took to her Instagram Stories to address the claims. "To all the nice girls out there, listen, you try and be nice, you try and do the right thing — I've worked in this business a long time," she said in a video. "I've kept so many friendships, I try and always be professional, [but] at the end of the day, you don't always have to be nice if somebody keeps pushing you and does not respect your boundaries, and that is OK. PSA for today." She also wrote int the caption: "Just my opinion of course! But I will not feel bad for doing this when we deal with SO much more and see SO much more than what makes it on the show. FYI."

The realtor previously told People that she's learned not to take such fan comments seriously. "Truly, I find these things entertaining at this point. Now, granted, I've been doing this for a while, so it takes a while to get to that point," she said. "But it's just funny when clearly someone is so upset with a stranger's life that it has ruined their day. If you can see it that way, you can have a little empathy, where it's like, 'Oh my goodness, you need to get your focus and your priorities in a different place.' Because if I woke up that upset about a stranger's life, I would definitely be doing something wrong... So I think you just have to laugh at it. If you're not in on the joke, you are the joke."
