At the top of her game, Dany Garcia is a producer, founded her own clothing line, and heads a wealth management firm. She’s also the first woman to own a professional sports league, since acquiring XFL.
Garcia is also the ex-wife of Dwayne Johnson, and she’s played a very big part in his massive success. Garcia still works as his manager, despite their split in 2007. Under her management, he became the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, and The Rock is working towards becoming a billionaire.
Fans say it was Garcia who had helped save his flagging career.
Garcia and Johnson also enjoy a lucrative business partnership through Seven Bucks Productions, which has released some of the actor’s biggest hits, including Jumanji and Baywatch.
Has Dany Garcia Driven Henry Cavill's Career Too?
Garcia took over Cavill’s management in April 2016.
In interviews at the time, she said: “Henry has a big appetite. We’ve been in a five-month period of time where he’s re-strategizing, acquiring property for his production company Promethean, he’s filming Justice League now, he’s in development for the Superman standalone… he’s beginning to expand that world."
Garcia elaborated, "It’s beautifully teed up. In a year from now, or two years from now, he’s going to be a force globally.”
She also said DC was finalizing the sequel to Man of Steel. Fans are disappointed that hasn’t happened yet.
Garcia Says The Cape Is Still In Cavill’s Closet
In 2018, Garcia denied reports that Cavill was giving up on Superman. This after he didn't appear in a Superman cameo featured in Shazam!, the light-hearted DC Extended Universe movie which starred Zachary Levi.
With a body double wearing the costume, rumors started flying that Cavill’s planned appearance in the film had fallen through due to scheduling conflicts, although it’s never officially been confirmed as the reason for his non-appearance.
And when he also didn’t appear in the finale of DCEU’s series Peacemaker, with fans only seeing their hero in silhouette, they were even more concerned.
Since Man of Steel, Cavill has only had three appearances as Superman, and fans blame Dany Garcia for the fact that a Superman revival still hasn’t happened.
There’s even been a petition launched by one particularly irate fan on change.org, asking people to help get rid of Cavill's manager. Only 26 people have signed.
Cavill Has Moved On From Superman
While diehard Superman fans might feel Cavill has been let down by Garcia, he’s had some huge successes under her management. And with DCEU not offering any clarity on whether there’ll ever be a standalone sequel to The Man of Steel, the actor has moved on to other projects, enjoying some spectacular successes.
In 2018, he was booked for Mission: Impossible – Fallout. That was followed by a starring role in Night Hunter before he took on the role of an outcast warrior Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher, an adaptation of a video game of the same name.
The Witcher Is A Massive Success
Cavill is known for his love of gaming, which certainly gave him the edge in his campaign for the role in the Netflix fantasy series, which debuted in 2019.
According to Variety, Cavill was paid $400k per episode for Season 1. That equates to $3.2 million for the eight-episode season. Reportedly, the actor’s per episode salary more than doubled in Season 2.
Hollywood Reporter cited sources that revealed that Cavill’s new deal netted him more than $1 million per episode. That seems to be evidence of pretty good negotiations by his manager.
At the time of writing, Cavill was back on set for Season 3 of the blockbuster series, after delays owing to him being diagnosed with Covid.
Whether his fee has gone even higher hasn't been revealed, but Cavill is worth $40 Million.
Cavill Also Starred In The Most Watched Film Of The Year
In 2020, the Man of Steel actor starred in Enola Holmes, along with Dua Lipa.
It which went on to become one of the most watched films of the year. Playing the part of Enola’s father, the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, was another runaway success for the actor.
In addition to The Witcher 3, Cavill completed a spy thriller called Argylle. Garcia remains supportive in everything he does.
He's also looking forward to working on Enola Holmes 2 and seems set to star in a reboot of Highlander. And there’s still the possibility that Cavill becomes the next James Bond.
Is Garcia Aiming For A Superman Appearance In Black Adam?
As the release of Black Adam, starring Dwayne Johnson as the anti-hero nears, fans have been abuzz with the possibility of Cavill making an appearance as Superman.
In an interview with Unlimited Tech, the question came up. Johnson called Cavill ‘The Superman of our generation.'
He also referred to their mutual manager: “My long time business partner, Dany Garcia, who is his sister, has been a passionate advocate for Henry Cavill and his career for a very, very, very long time.”
Time will tell; Black Adam is set to hit the screens in October 2022.
Speaking about his career to The Hollywood Reporter in early 2022, Cavill said: “Something has changed, something has shifted. After 21 years of hard work, I have three jobs lined up. Maybe it’s me, maybe it’s my approach, maybe my value as a commodity increases being attached to things like The Witcher."
And maybe it also has something to do with Dany Garcia.
