John Mayer is known for being a singer-songwriter and guitarist and in the past has also dated Taylor Swift. He has been releasing music since the late nineties and has sung many top hits, including 'Waiting On The World To Change', 'Your Body Is A Wonderland', and 'Say.'
As well as Taylor Swift, Mayer has dated (or been rumored to have dated) many women, including Jennifer Aniston, Katy Perry, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Kim Kardashian. But with this long list of female celebs who he's had on his arm and Mayer recently stating that he doesn't want to date anymore, has he been dating someone under the radar?
John Mayer Has A Wild Dating History
As previously mentioned, Mayer has dated a number of women in the public eye and this has resulted in many conversations between fans about his latest girlfriend; then when they split up, they will discuss who he could possibly go on to date next.
Not only will Mayer's fans be discussing his dating life, but when Mayer and a former flame break up, this can cause fans of both parties to go to war with one another and to no longer be a fan of their ex. Take his relationship with Taylor Swift as an example.
Even though Mayer and Swift called things quits in 2010, what we have all been able to get out of it is some major hits from both singer-songwriters. They both collaborated on Mayer's single 'Half Of My Heart' whilst the two were still together and made its way into the top 40 for a total of seven weeks.
However, it's not the song the two wrote whilst they were together that fans have long obsessed over, but is the songs that came about as a result of the break up that both sets of fans seem to prefer.
Swift's 'Dear John' is the main example of this, as well as 'The Story Of Us' and 'Superman'; with Mayer writing 'Paper Doll', which didn't do as well as a comeback to Swift's songs about him as he would have hoped.
But it seems as though Mayer didn't learn his lesson when it comes to dating fellow singer-songwriters, as his ex-girlfriend Katy Perry, who he dated on and off between 2012 and 2015, has also been known to write a few songs about him.
Her song 'Roar', which came out in 2013, was said to be written about Mayer whilst the two were on a break, which is in contrast to her earlier song 'Unconditionally,' which, while also being about Mayer, was written when the pair were still together and is seemingly a love song for him.
This suggests that, unlike his and Swift's relationship, Perry and Mayer seemingly didn't have too much bad blood between them. This is especially as in 2017, two years after their indefinite break-up, Mayer released a song entitled 'I Still Feel Like Your Man' and even admitted in an interview that he regrets his and Perry's relationship ending.
Is John Mayer No Longer Dating?
In December 2022, Mayer admitted on the Call Her Daddy podcast that he no longer dates that much. He said part of this is to do with the fact that he is sober and due to this, he no longer has the "liquid courage" to go on dates and that he now just has "dry courage".
On another occasion, Mayer admitted on stage at one of his concerts that he does not like it when people are constantly asking him when he's going to settle down - something that many people can probably relate to.
He also stated that he is more than aware that at some stage in his life, he is going to meet the right person and that when he does, he is going to cherish them and that until that day happens he's perfectly fine on his own.
But given that he hasn't explicitly stated that he's completely done with dating, does this mean that he's actually been doing some dating but away from the public eye?
Has John Mayer Been Dating Someone New?

With Mayer admitting that he no longer really dates that much and his last known girlfriend being Kristin Cavallari, who he was linked to after the two were spotted going on dates together in 2022, this has caused many of his fans, and the public in general, to question whether Mayer made the 'no longer dating' comment to throw everyone off the scent.
Not much is known about Mayer's current dating life, however, in November 2022, it was reported that he had been seen on a date at a restaurant in Santa Monica with much younger actress Kiernan Shipka, who is best known as playing Sabrina Spellman in the Netflix series The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina.
However, whether the pair are still dating is unknown as there have been no sightings of the pair together since that date.
Despite this date, it is currently widely reported that Mayer is single. Given that he has not been spotted out on any dates since November 2022, it can only be assumed that he is either completely single or has been going on dates but has managed to completely bypass any onlookers.
