Despite the success of the show, the original Love Is Blind has had its fair share of complaints, and the Brazil version seems to have let fans down big time and received very average ratings. Many Love Is Blind fans took to Reddit to express their frustrations at the show. So according to Reddit, no — Love Is Blind Brazil is awful.
"SO ANGRY! THE MEN ON THIS [expletive] SHOW ARE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AND SEXIST AND HAVE FRAGILE EGOS!" one Love Is Blind fan raged on Reddit. "The ladies are amazing and strong and I hate watching them deal with this BS!"
"Honestly!!!!!! The girls are 100% and then the man are just!!!!" another Redditor agreed in disbelief.
Many of the fans on Reddit discussed their hatred and frustration at the male contestants on the show, feeling sorry for the women. Fans love the female contestants on Love Is Blind Brazil, but feel furious towards the male contestants, calling the men "sexist" and "manipulators." One Redditor even called them "disgusting pigs."
"So sad," the Redditor said. "[We] have all of these guys being terribly sexist and disgusting and nobody even bats an eye at it. I don’t get it but it was so disappointing. Every single woman on that show deserved so much better, [all] amazing strong women who were sweet and genuine and paired with total idiots."
There were more Redditors discussing a sex joke Ro made on the show, that was apparently so bad Dayanne was horrified and wanted the joke hidden. Most Redditors are repulsed by the men of Love Is Blind Brazil and cannot believe these men are unfortunately real.
Is 'Love Is Blind Brazil' Scripted?
With the men's personalities being so truly awful and a major turn-off to both the women contestants and fans of the show, it brings into question whether the show is scripted. Fans have pointed out on Reddit that without these huge egos being put together for a show which is designed to bring entertainment, perhaps the show would be boring and less interesting to watch without the shocking drama.
"But wouldn't these types of men get more views than nice ones? Drama sells, right?" One Redditor pointed out. "Just thinking from a producer's point of view, I have no real world idea. Maybe not because I loved watching Lauren and Cameron."
But apparently, despite speculation, Love Is Blind is not scripted. According to an interview Love Is Blind creator Chris Coelen did with Entertainment Weekly, some of the show's contestants were so nervous that he was concerned the show might become "too real." Apparently, the producers of Love Is Blind only planned two proposals for one season, as they were convinced that Love Is Blind being unsuccessful was a definite possibility.
This, unfortunately, means that the off-putting personalities of contestants are very real. The producers of Love Is Blind know exactly what they're doing as they pick the worst people, knowing they are more likely to cause more drama and create more obstacles when it comes to finding love.
Just like with movies and TV shows, an audience thrives on feeling strong emotions and being told a story with plenty of twists and turns. For a reality TV show to provide the same level of entertainment, it's got to find some "big" personalities, even if they fill the show in the worst possible way.
