According to Your Tango, people say that this is a cult. The rumor began when a fan, Michelle, shared a TikTok under her account @michelletok where she said Cyrus has been hanging out with members of the Modern Mystery School.
Michelle wrote, “These two girls, Lily and Blue, were allegedly healers at the cult school. They allegedly met Miley in February of 2023, right after Flowers dropped, and encouraged her to join their cult. And allegedly, this is the reason that Miley has been so MIA. No performances, no public appearances, no promotion for the album at all, aside from the Disney+ special that was back in March.”
Your Tango also reported that Michelle wrote, “It’s allegedly an organization that trains healing practitioners in the tradition of the lineage of King Solomon. These healers are encouraged to join sacrifices every year. They sign contracts stating that they aren’t allowed to tell anyone about it.”
According to the official website, there are schools located in Africa, Tibet, England, Japan, Australia, Romania, and North America. The website also has a blog post called "The Truth about the Modern Mystery School: Cult or Community of Lightworkers?"
The post mentions that while people say that it's a cult, people who stay at the Modern Mystery School do get fed regularly and are encouraged to return home.
The post also says that while cults tell members to isolate themselves from the people whom they know, that doesn't happen here. However, this post is in direct contrast to what some people who used to go to the school have said. They have detailed much worse experiences. And in some cases, they dealt with a lot of harm.
Not much has been said about The Modern Mystery School. Your Tango mentioned a Vice article from 2021 that offers up more details. According to Vice, many people have said that they experienced poor treatment and abuse at the school. And many paid $20,000 to be part of it.
Is Miley Cyrus Part Of The Modern Mystery School?
While the fan, Michelle, shared on TikTok that Miley Cyrus was spending time with members of The Modern Mystery School, this hasn't been proven.
This definitely appears to be just a rumor. Miley Cyrus's family members haven't said that they are concerned about her. And no one else seems to be worried that this is actually true.
It seems much more likely that Cyrus has needed a nice, long break from performing and marketing herself. She has been famous since she was just a kid and after her Disney series Hannah Montana ended, she continued to make music and be a public figure. Perhaps she feels that she has never really stopped to take a breath and think about what she wants.
