Being a huge name in the entertainment industry means that every single aspect of your life is going to be examined by the general public. As such, any and every negative thing that a person will do while in the limelight is going to be amplified tenfold once headlines start rolling out. Stars like Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, and Scott Disick have all had their fair share of bad press.

Shia LaBeouf has been a prominent name in the entertainment industry for years now, and some of his erratic behavior over time has certainly made the news. With recent allegations coming to light against the performer, some people are starting to wonder how much longer he has in the business before studios start refusing to work with him.

Let’s see if LaBeouf is on a path to the blacklist.

He Has Serious Allegations Against Him

As we mentioned already, Shia LaBeouf is currently in the midst of some serious allegations and a lawsuit from his ex, FKA Twigs, who finally felt the confidence she needed to come forward with her story.

The lawsuit brought up allegations of abuse, battery, assault, and emotional distress. In recent years, performers dealing with serious allegations and lawsuits immediately become a negative press machine for studios working with them, and performers like Johnny Depp have even lost work while investigations are taking place.

According to the New York Times, Twigs said, “I’d like to be able to raise awareness on the tactics that abusers use to control you and take away your agency.”

In a statement of his own, LaBeouf would say, “I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”

There isn’t a denial here in the slightest, and this is going to cause studios to raise eyebrows when considering hiring LaBeouf for any sort of work. The lawsuit is going to be a lengthy process, and once the dust settles, hopefully, justice is served.

He Was Fired From Olivia Wilde’s Film

On top of the lawsuit that LaBeouf is in the midst of, he also finds himself with the notable distinction of being fired from a recent project with Olivia Wilde at the helm. Initially, reports suggested that this was due to a scheduling conflict, but recently, the truth of the situation would come to light.

According to Variety, LaBeouf was actually let go and ultimately replaced on the project due to his behavior on set. The performer was “not an easy guy to work with,” according to a source close to the film. Interestingly, Wilde, who is directing the project that LaBeouf was canned from, publicly showed her support for FKA Twigs after the singer came forward with her story.

On top of that, other people from LaBeouf’s past have come forward in support of Twigs, including his ex, Sia.

This is all going to play a factor in LaBeouf’s career moving forward. Conventional wisdom suggests that where there is smoke there is fire, and while details have yet to fully emerge in the lawsuit, there is simply no way that studios won’t be looking at the full picture here.

No star is worth bad behavior on set, but when looking at what is being alleged against the actor and his admission of behavior in the past, things could be cooling down considerably for someone who was just getting back in the good graces of the public.

Others Have Been Blacklisted Before

In the past, we have seen problematic actors get canned from projects and seemingly blacklisted by Hollywood. It is really hard to justify sinking millions of dollars into a performer and having them star in a project when they have a history of terrible behavior.

For a two-year period, T.J. Miller wasn’t landing much work, despite being in projects like Deadpool and Silicon Valley. Poor behavior behind the scenes and allegations of sexual assault and even being arrested for assaulting an Uber driver all had a hand in studios staying away for some time.

Another notable person that falls into the category is Mel Gibson. Despite all of the talent that he has, a string of disgusting incidents from the actor and director saw him cast aside from Hollywood for years.

Shia LaBeouf could very well find himself out of the business, and he has no one to blame but himself. There is simply no place in this world for violent and abusive behavior.
