Wendy Williams has been in the entertainment industry for quite some time now, getting her start on a radio show before eventually getting her own talk show. The Wendy Williams Show premiered in 2008 and ran for a whopping 14 seasons. Throughout its run time, the show was nominated for People's Choice Awards and Daytime Emmys and consisted of several segments including hot topics, clips of the say, and celebrity shout-outs.

Williams was no stranger to controversy while working on her show with many off-color comments made while talking about Britney Spears, Beyoncé, and Ellen DeGeneres. Her personal life has always been a hot topic as well, specifically surrounding her relationship with now ex-husband Kevin Hunter, struggles with addiction, and stints in rehab facilities.

Her health also became a hot topic starting in 2017 and the public has not stopped talking about it since then. Now with talks of the once popular and controversial talk show host allegedly returning to daytime television, her health is once again at the forefront of the conversation.

In October 2017 while live on television, Wendy Williams had a fainting spell that caused her to collapse. The broadcast was cut and returned minutes later with Wendy saying that she had overheated because of the Statue of Liberty costume she was wearing.

Just a few months later, she ended up canceling three episodes of her show around Valentine's Day due to flu-like symptoms. Williams claimed at the time that she has never taken a sick day throughout her career, and promptly returned as soon as she could.

Unfortunately, complications tied to Graves disease and thyroid issues forced Wendy Williams to have to take an additional three weeks off shortly after returning. Her Graves disease continued to affect her health and career going forward.

Throughout struggles with health issues, Wendy reportedly battled a long-term addiction to cocaine and subsequent alcohol abuse as well. Sources close to Williams say that her alcoholism has contributed to some of the issues with her career and health.

There were several additional breaks Wendy had to take in order to monitor her health. Season thirteen was ultimately delayed due to a COVID diagnosis, and also saw Williams leave the show partway through its thirteenth and now final season.

Wendy Claims She Is Ready To Return To Work

Concern over Wendy Williams and her well-being has been high, and it has certainly impacted her career. Outside of her health issues, her very open struggle with cocaine and alcohol addiction, both of which she has received treatment for, have been at the core of her overall struggles.

There have also been instances of Wendy experiencing bizarre behavior while out in public, including being caught asleep inside a Louis Vuitton store. This coupled with sources close to her saying she is still having issues with drinking has many wondering if she is ready to return to work.

Even still, Wendy Williams is very adamant that she's ready to return to work, and has apparently been "working on several projects" according to her publicist Shawn Zanotti. Williams herself claims she is "back and better than ever."

Wendy has allegedly been working on her physical health by following a holistic diet and also hitting the gym. While she hasn't returned to television yet, she does have a podcast called the Wendy Experience.

Fans Still Worry Wendy's Team Isn't Taking Care Of Her

Wendy and her publicist may feel that she is ready to return to work, but her brother Tommy doesn't think the people around her have her best interest in mind. He alleges that his sister may appear better, but isn't doing as well as is being suggested.

Tommy claims that his sister is still "so caught up with who she was and not who she's become." He goes on to say that his family hasn't been able to help "because she's up in New York around people and we, the family, can't get her hooks in her properly to reel her into shore."

Wendy's brother calls the people she currently associates with "sharks" and adamantly does not like Wendy's current manager Will Selby. He also is expressing concerns that his sister is in no condition to return to work yet while visiting in Florida.

Selby claims that these concerns were not brought to his attention when the family was together with Wendy, a film crew, and her team during that Florida trip. It was revealed then that they are working on a reality program, a move Tommy does not seem to agree with.

Wendy Williams' family may not believe that she is ready to get back to work, but it seems that her manager, her publicist, and Wendy herself feel the opposite way. Following some time in rehab, it appears that Wendy Williams is ready to hit the ground running and get back to doing what she loves.
