Love them or hate them, Jake and Logan Paul are currently some of the most talked-about names, not in acting or comedy, but in boxing. The Paul Brothers always bring in big numbers whenever they hold a boxing event. During Jake's fight against Ben Askren, for example, the "problem child" had reportedly amassed at least $65 million from PPV, and he's not stopping there.
The Paul Brothers' rise to boxing respect is still far from the end, and they are just getting started making noise. From the financial viewpoint, the numbers they pull are usually guaranteed to be astronomical. Jake and Logan Paul are no longer the problematic brothers from Disney -- they're actors, musicians, entrepreneurs, and more. Here's a simplified timeline of Jake and Logan Paul's boxing career, and what's next for the boxing rising stars.
6 How Jake And Logan Paul Began Boxing
The Paul Brothers kicked off their boxing career back in 2018, but nobody expected them to take it seriously. At the time, Logan Paul found himself in a feud with fellow internet personality KSI, real name Olajide Olatunji, whose fight with another YouTuber Joe Weller was viewed by millions. Tempted to kick off his boxing career, Logan accepted the challenge while Jake took on KSI's brother, Deji. The white-collar fight took place at the Manchester Arena in England on August 25, 2018, resulting in 57-57 and 57-58 scores in favor of KSI.
5 Logan Paul's Fight Against KSI
A year after his first loss against KSI, Logan Paul took a shot at a rematch. This time, the professional fight took place at Staples Center in Los Angeles on November 9, 2019, in front of 12,000 attendances. It included big celebs like Justin Bieber, Wiz Khalifa, Post Malone, Dan Bilzerian, and former UFC champ Tyron Woodley. The fight itself ended with another split decision loss for Logan, scoring 56-55 and 57-54 in favor of KIS and 56-55 in favor of Logan.
Interestingly, however, the two have put their feud to an end. Now, Logan and KSI are two business partners, linking up for a new beverage brand called Prime Hydration. "We’re excited to announce Prime to the world and showcase what happens when rivals come together as brothers and business partners. Our goal was to create a fantastic hydration drink that can fuel any lifestyle," the pair said in a company announcement.
4 Jake Paul Becoming A Professional Boxer
On the other hand, Jake Paul's amateur contest against KSI's younger brother ended up becoming his first boxing win. His pro career debut came in January 2020, as he stepped into the ring to fight fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib as the co-feature of WBO's middleweight bout between Demetrius Andrade and Luke Keeler. The fight ended in another win for Jake, making his record an impressive 2-0.
“This bout has deep roots,” Jake told DAZN. “It’s a fight for my brother’s honor, my pride and most importantly my loyal fans who are among the best in the world. This is the American dream…My opponent’s 15 minutes of fame [will] turn into 10 seconds of counting stars as he lays unconscious on the canvas.”
3 Logan Paul's Big Showdown Against World Champion Floyd Mayweather
Despite his two losses from KSI, Logan Paul challenged five-division world champ, Floyd Mayweather, in an exhibition match at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. The fight was initially scheduled for February 20, 2021, but it's postponed to June 6. It was a pivotal "Bragging Rights" match for both: Logan, eager to earn respect in the boxing world, faced the former world champion who's blueprinted his comeback. It pulled at least one million PPV buys and ended in no one's favor.
"I did an exhibition with the YouTuber Logan Paul. We had fun," the former world champ said. "People have gotta know, there's a difference between a real fight and an exhibition. All I did was work out from time to time."
2 Jake Paul's Impressive Boxing Record
Jake Paul's boxing record is far more impressive than that of Logan's. After his win from Gib in 2020, Jake went to fight former basketball player Nate Robinson, a retired MMA fighter Ben Askren, and former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. All fights ended in Jake's favor, making his record 5-0, up to this writing.
"I found a way to win and passed my first test in my fourth professional fight," the "Problem Child" said in an interview after his win. "Nobody from Muhammad Ali to Mike Tyson to Floyd Mayweather was testing themselves as much as I was in my fourth fight. I learned a lot about myself and what I’m capable of and performing under pressure. I look forward to bringing that experience to my next fight."
1 What's Next For The Paul Brothers?
So, what's next for Jake and Logan Paul? The brothers clearly show no sign of slowing down anytime soon, and if anything, they are just getting started. However, it seems like Jake has been making a lot more noises than his brother in the boxing world, as he recently called out 7-0 British pro boxer Tommy Fury for a match. For Logan, the "Impaulsive" podcast host seems to have confirmed his next opponent but is yet to announce.
