The Breakup

At first glance, things between former American Idol contestant Adam Lambert and his much younger boyfriend, Javi Costa Polo seemed fine. They spent tons of time together and showered each other with love. On the outside, they appeared like the perfect couple. Unfortunately, their 2-year-romance came to a screeching halt when Polo’s visa expired.

In November of 2020, Polo divulged information pertaining to their breakup and his plans to return home in Spain. According to sources, the then 24-year-old had resided in the country until 2015. “I'm not a citizen of the United States. So we both decided that that's the best thing for me. In order to keep growing and learning, I need to be in a country that gives me the right to be that,” Polo said during the video. Before making the following statement, Polo made it known that he cared deeply for Lambert. He stated that the decision to leave the US was heartbreaking, since “he loved Adam the most.” If he had a choice in the matter, he’d choose to stay with the singer. Unfortunately, Lambert and Polo couldn’t make their relationship work out for the better. It’s sad when the good times have to come to an end.

Adam Lambert Moves On

While fans took the breakup between Adam Lambert and his boyfriend Javi Costa Polo hard, so did the stars themselves. However, the singer had prepared himself for the inevitable, given his line of work. In a previous interview, he noted: “how difficult it is to make a connection with someone while being on the road all the time.” Apparently, Lambert’s a true rolling stone; it’s not often that the star finds himself in a long-term relationship. Apart from dating Finnish tv personality Sauli Koskinen for 2-years, Polo had been Lambert’s second longest relationship.

Despite his earlier reservations about relationships, Adam Lambert still tries his hand at having some semblance of a dating life. According to The Daily Mail, back in 2019, Lambert was seen cozying up to someone new in Tulum, Mexico. Earlier that same year, Lambert claimed he was single but had the “right headspace.” By this, Lambert clearly meant he was ready to return to the dating scene again.

Furthermore, Adam Lambert and Javi Costa Polo ended their relationship the best way they could. Both parties made their heartbreak known to fans but there wasn’t any ill feelings between the two. In any case, their love affair ended because neither could commit to a long-distance relationship. Some relationships just end based on bad circumstances. Adam Lambert’s relationship with Polo were just at the wrong place and time to meet.
