In March, The Valley's Jax Taylor admitted on Bravo's Hot Mic podcast that he has struggled with addiction "on and off since I was 23" — specifically with cocaine. It has been quite a journey for the reality TV star, who first gained prominence on Vanderpump Rules in 2013. He was known for being the "bad boy," before ultimately marrying Brittany Cartwright. The two split in February 2024 and share a son named Cruz.
Jax appears a lot more comfortable speaking out about his substance abuse issues, and it's something that will be shown on the new season of The Valley. Additionally, fans will also get an inside look at Jax seeking help for his substance-abuse issues as he and Brittany navigate a difficult separation.

Stassi Schroeder would have joined her old VPR cast members Kristen Doute, Brittany Cartwright, and Jax Taylor had she joined They Valley.
Jax Taylor's Separation From Brittany Cartwright Will Be An Emotional One On The New Season Of The Valley
Jax Taylor Is At An "Emotional Crossroads" Over His Separation
Jax's separation from Brittany will be a focal point in The Valley Season 2. An announcement for the season reads, "Deciding to seek the professional help his loved ones encourage him to get, Jax checks himself into a mental health facility and tries to work on his anger."
As for Brittany, she's also on a new journey as a single mom after her marriage fallout. The announcement for the new season reads that she is looking to "rediscover herself" and "resisting the urge to forgive and forget Jax's behavior once again."
The new season will also see Brittany and Jax adapting to a new routine as they learn to live apart.
Jax and Brittany had been together for nearly 10 years. He first met the Kentucky native while she was working at a Hooters in Las Vegas and decided to help her move to Los Angeles, where she made her debut on VPR. The two got married in June 2019, and announced they were expecting a child the following year.
The former couple's son, Cruz, was born in April 2021, just a few months after both stars were let go from the Bravo show. Brittany announced their separation just before Season 1 of The Valley premiered, which saw the couple still together. Brittany filed for divorce in August 2024, but it is not yet official.

Jax Is Now Over 100 Days Sober
The Valley Star Hit "Rock Bottom" After His Separation
Jax appeared in Us Weekly's cover story this March where he celebrated being more than 100 days sober. However, he also reflected on some very dark times in his life.
The reality star admitted that after his former wife, Brittany, announced their separation in February 2024, he hit "rock bottom" and he used an excessive amount of cocaine to deal with the fallout of their marriage. Jax entered a facility in July, but admitted he did not take it seriously.
"I was in my house by myself for months. I wasn’t eating. I was drinking and doing enough cocaine to kill a small horse. I went on a full-on tear."
Additionally, Jax admitted that his second rock bottom was learning that his close friend, Julian Sensley, was speaking to Brittany privately. The incident occurred in November 2024. "It was a serious slap in the face — I brought this person into my circle! When I found out, I collapsed," he shared.
After that, Jax returned to a rehab facility where he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and decided to change his life. He is now over 100 days sober as of this writing.

These VPR Cast Members Aren't Saying Goodbye To Bravo Forever, Here's Who Is Joining Season 2 Of The Valley
Three Vanderpump Rules alums are heading back to Bravo.
Jax's Drug Use Was Shown On Vanderpump Rules
Jax "Checks Himself Into A Mental Health Facility" On The Valley Season 2
In his cover story with Us Weekly, Jax shared that fans "could tell there was something going on," when he appeared on Vanderpump Rules. Those fans suspected that he was under the influence.
"If you’ve watched me on the show, you could tell there was something going on. I didn’t hide it that well. I don’t really care what people think — this is more for me and for my son. Seeing that I’m doing this, hopefully other people can come out and say they’re struggling with issues too."
During his interview on the Hot Mic podcast in early March, Jax believed he could keep his drug use "under the radar." In fact, a Reddit thread shows the Season 8 episode in which Jax and Brittany get married, which allegedly showed the former star using drugs.
“I thought for the most part that I was keeping a lot of it under the radar. But clearly I wasn’t. When I watch back I’m like, ‘How big are my f****** pupils? I’m sweating and there’s no reason to be sweating in the scene. Why am I sweating?'" Jax said on the podcast.
Of course, fans will see a different and more clear-headed Jax on Season 2 of The Valley as he will be seen seeking professional help for his substance issues.
The Valley Season 2 premieres on Bravo on Tuesday, April 15th at 9 PM ET/PT, and episodes will be available to stream the following day on Peacock.
