We really can't picture Jeff Probst ever leaving 'Survivor', but in truth, the host loves the show just as much. Thanks to his run on the reality series, he's been able to gather quite the net worth of $40 million. Though in truth, there have been some struggles along the way, which included some tough seasons of 'Survivor' in less appealing destinations.
In addition, during its 40 plus seasons, Probst was bound to slip up at least a couple of times. We'll take a look at a specific moment along with 'Survivor' player Jenna Marasca, which had fans turn on the host.
Jenna Morasca Is A Well-Respected 'Survivor' Player
Jenna Morasca isn't just any 'Survivor' player. True fans of the reality show are well-aware, she is a very big deal, becoming the youngest 'Survivor' winner at the time, at the age of 21. She took home the grand prize during the 'Survivor: The Amazon' season.
Of course, she would also feel the lowest lows of the show during her return in 'Survivor: All-Stars', when she left for personal reasons after day nine, though we'll have a bit more on that later.
Despite the highs and lows, Jenna had a blast on the show. She had few regrets along the way, aside from some immature comments she made along the way. For though most part though, she's proud of her accomplishments, as she revealed alongside EW.
"Obviously, winning is a proud moment for me, and being the youngest female winner ever still. But being able to share the experience with my dad when he was able to come for the family visit is my highlight."
"He was the biggest Survivor fan (along with my mom), and the first and only time he traveled out of the country was to see me for the family visit. It was my dad’s fondest memory, and he talked about that moment up to the day he passed. Nothing can ever surpass that for me."
Without a doubt, her dad was nothing but proud of her. However, fans weren't too pleased with Jeff Probst during the All-Star season and how he handled the news of Jenna wanting to depart for the sake of her mother.
Jeff Probst Didn't React The Way He Should Have To Jenna's Reasoning For Leaving The Show
Just like any other host, Jeff Probst doesn't have a squeaky clean reputation when it comes to his ways on the reality show. After 42 seasons, the guy was bound to slip up...
Fans think this particular moment alongside Jenna might've been his very worst. Jenna wanted to leave the game due to her mother being ill and instead of understanding her motive, Jeff was insistent on asking questions. He would ask Jenna how she would know her mother was sick if she was on the island without info... even though her mom was sick prior to her coming on the show.
He would take things further, asking Jenna if she was quitting the show because she couldn't handle it...
As if that wasn't bad enough, Probst would ask the other 'Survivors' what they thought. Boston Rob gave the best answer, wondering why Jeff was even asking questions about her reason to depart, given that her mother was ill.
It all turned out to be a forgettable moment for Jeff and one that looking back, he would likely handle very differently.
Fans Put The 'Survivor' Host On Blast For His Treatment Of Jenna
Out of all Jeff's worst moments on the show, fans agree that in this case, he was definitely in the wrong. Via platforms like YouTube, fans spoke out, blasting the host for his numerous questions.
"There was no reason for him to be questioning Jenna about her leaving. He acted like the stupid game of survivor was more important than her being able to spend time with her dying mother."
"I never liked Jeff’s treatment of the Jenna situation. Had she stayed due to his guilt trip she would have never been there for her mom's passing. Yes, she shouldn’t have gone in the first place but don’t make the girl feel worse."
"I’m so glad that Jenna M. followed her intuition, her gut feeling, because those eight days with her mother is what she needed. Had she not quit the game and found out later that her mother was dead, that would’ve been heartbreaking."
Jenna made the right decision to leave and she was right to listen to her gut. Jeff Probst on the other hand did not handle the situation well.
