We are just days away from the start of Survivor 47, and according to longtime Survivor host Jeff Probst, there is something that fans of the hit reality television series should definitely keep their eyes peeled for: a "showmance" (or lack thereof).

Those who love CBS competition shows may be familiar with "showmances" coming into play in various shows such as Survivor, Big Brother, The Challenge, and others.

In fact, some of the most beloved Survivor showmances are still going strong today — such as Amber Brkich and "Boston" Rob Mariano, who tied the knot and had four beautiful daughters together after their stint on Survivor: All-Stars.

But unless you're Amber or Rob, showmances are sometimes more of a curse than a blessing...

On numerous seasons of the show, castaways have been eliminated shortly after finding themselves embroiled in a showmance, being deemed as one half of a "power couple."

Tribemates tend to find showmances threatening, as these partnerships consist of contestants who are a package deal, constantly voting with one another and often bringing their significant other to the coveted Final Tribal Council.

The only thing worse than being involved in a showmance, though, is being in a falsely perceived showmance, as your game is bound to take a negative hit regardless.

Jeff teased that a situation just like this may or may not occur during Survivor 47 this fall, so keep scrolling to see what exactly he had to say.

This Survivor Showmance Is A Prime Example As To Why Contestants Need To Avoid Relationships

Many Survivor showmances are still going strong, but some have fallen by the wayside.

When asked about "Fijian flirting" in a pre-season interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jeff suggested that there will not be a real showmance this fall.

However, two castaways may find themselves in a sticky situation when rumors of an alleged showmance circulate across the tribe:

"It’s an interesting question to ask, because you don't have to be in a showmance in order for other people to suspect that you might be in a showmance.

"That's a really interesting wrinkle this season.”

To our recollection, the last time an alleged showmance put a damper on the games of two contestants was during Survivor: Heroes vs Healers vs Hustlers in 2017.

Ashley Nolan and John "JP" Hilsabeck were deemed a "power couple" – despite having little to no romantic connection – ultimately leading to the latter's untimely exit.

Could history repeat itself during Survivor 47?

Jeff's teasing remarks have made Survivor fans quite curious to see what really went down (and whether this is a real or "falsely perceived" showmance).

We won't find out for certain until brand-new episodes of Survivor 47 drop this fall on CBS, beginning with a two-hour premiere episode on September 18.

Based on the looks of the Survivor 47 cast, this season is certain to be one for the Survivor history books.
