Teen Mom star Jenelle Evans is arguing with bloggers and Reddit users again, due to rumors that she was investigated by Child Protective Services (CPS) in Las Vegas.

Jenelle is now 32 (turning 33 in December), and she's been on the reality TV circuit for half her life to date.

She debuted on MTV's 16 & Pregnant in 2010, gave birth to her first son in 2009, and stayed active on the Teen Mom franchise until she parted ways with it in 2019.

In May, news broke that Jenelle was returning for Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, and fans of the show have been strongly focused on what's going on in her life in recent months.

Jenelle's relationship with entertainment blogs and Reddit users in particular is tense, and while their attention and engagement are beneficial to her other projects – such as a certain platform notorious for its monetization of explicit content – she frequently lashes out when their focus on her becomes too intense.

In late September, Jenelle namechecked Reddit amid Hurricane Helene, calling users out as hypocritical in a tweet:

"Reddit talks so much s*** about my house yet wants to know if it’s okay because of the storms. awwwh, you love me 💗😂"

Earlier this week, Reddit users on r/TeenMomOGandTeenMom2 speculated about who had custody of Jenelle's son Kaiser, accusing her of rescinding custody to pursue a party lifestyle in Las Vegas.

On Wednesday, Jenelle tweeted a link to a blog post about Kaiser's current custody situation, confirmed he was with his father, and explained:

"The reason why I wanted Kaiser to be with his father is because Kaiser is at the age where it's important for him and his father and his father's family to spend time with one another.

"Kaiser loves Nathan's family and Nathan can also use some time with his son."

Jenelle's statement in no way quelled the controversy percolating on Reddit, and seems to have exacerbated it — leading to speculation about a CPS investigation in Las Vegas.

Jenelle Seemed To Acknowledge CPS Rumors On Twitter

On Thursday, posts to r/TeenMom and r/TeenMomOGandTeenMom2 reiterated rumors that Jenelle was investigated by CPS in Las Vegas.

CPS is a common moniker for state-level child welfare agencies and stands for "Child Protective Services," but it goes by other names as well, depending on jurisdiction: the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS), Children and Family Services (CFS), Child Welfare Services (CWS), and the Department of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) among them.

CPS investigations and cases are typically the domain of "family court," and due to the nature of their workings, proceedings in family court are rarely if ever verifiable by members of the press or public.

One of the posts linked to British tabloid The Sun's article, "Teen Mom Jenelle Evans under investigation by CPS in Vegas after boyfriend’s 911 call and trouble with sons at school."

The Sun's headline made it sound as if the claim was definitively substantiated, but the outlet cited an unnamed "insider" and asserted:

"'CPS is involved, and Jenelle doesn't want any legal action against her, that's partially why she suddenly sent Kaiser to his grandmother's,' the insider said, confirming that the preteen is now living with his paternal grandmother Doris Davidson in Tennessee."

Janelle appeared to address the claims in a Thursday tweet, although she was quite vague as to what she was disputing:

"It’s insane how outlandish these new rumors are. Don’t believe anything until you hear it from me first 💯 People are just asking to be sued at this point[.]"

On Friday, Jenelle tweeted again, and more clearly referenced rumors about a CPS investigation in Las Vegas.

Jenelle seemed to be responding to someone's claim that they themselves reported her to child welfare agencies, and she added that "every case" with which she'd been involved had been dropped:

"'I called myself and reported her myself once' and obviously everything you said was a lie cuz every case I’ve ever had against me was dropped… good try tho.

"I have custody of all my kids for a reason. Keep talking s*** and putting me down because I’m the best mother I can be 24/7[.]"

That particular tweet inadvertently raised an important and equally unverifiable factor with respect to Jenelle's alleged brushes with CPS.

As a reality TV star (and a controversial one at that), Jenelle has a high profile.

And as a person famous for being a "teen mom," it is not out of the realm of possibility that strangers might call and lodge CPS reports about her parenting – out of genuine concern, a desire to harass her, or any number of reasons – despite not knowing her in person and having no credible information to back their accusations up.

Given the volume of rumors that circulate about her, it does not seem unlikely that unverified or baseless claims have led to CPS knocking on her door at some point, either.

Jenelle's tendency to push back at rumors and allegations also introduces the prospect of retaliatory CPS reports, which are not unheard of.

In response to Janelle's statement, one user said: "'Every case I've ever had against me ...' isn't the flex that you think it is. 🤣[.]"
