John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer portrayed one of the most loved couples on TV, Jim and Pam on The Office. The pair were portrayed as lovers for six out of nine season of The Office. Despite having undeniable chemistry on-screen, Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski never translated their on-screen romance to an off-screen relationship.The pair was with different people when they first met. Jenna Fischer was already married to renowned filmmaker James Gunn when The Office started filming, on the other hand, John Krasinski was dating Rashida Jones at the time.While they never got together in real life, the pair had developed a strong friendship on set. It has been almost a decade since the last episode of The Office aired, and fans might be wondering if the pair still talks to each other.
Dating Was Never On The Table For John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer
The off-screen relationship seemed impossible for the two since they were never single at the same time. When Fischer announced her split with Gunn in 2008, Krasinski just started dating the girl of his dreams, Emily Blunt.
Fischer and Gunn remained cordial after their split and the pair never spoken ill against each other.
Their released statement to People is as follows, “We have chosen to separate. We are sorry for any pain this causes family and friends. The enthusiasm we have expressed for each other’s lives, spirits and careers is real – we have been each other’s cheerleader and friend during the past six years and continue to be so now and in the future.”
While Fischer was having a rough patch on her love life, John Krasinski is on cloud nine as he's having a smooth sailing relationship with Blunt. Krasinski wasn't initially looking for a serious relationship. However, when he met Blunt, he just knew she's the one.
During a sit-down interview with Ellen, Krasinski confessed, “It was one of those things where I wasn’t really looking for a relationship and I was thinking I’m going to take my time in L.A. Then I met her and I was so nervous. I was like, ‘Oh god, I think I’m going to fall in love with her.’ As I shook her hand I went, ‘I like you.’ "
John Krasinski and Emily Blunt's relationship got serious real quick that eventually led to a beautiful wedding in Lake Como in 2010.
Jenna Fischer Called Her Relationship With John Krasinski On The Office, 'The Strangest Thing'
Fischer revealed that when she first met Krasinski, she instantly felt a connection with him. During their audition process, John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer were paired together.
Fischer said, "They filmed us with a camera for two days, mixing and matching us. And over the course of that two days, I was mixed and matched with John several times. And after the second day, we were walking out of a scene, and he turned to me and he said, you're my favorite Pam. I hope you get this job."
That was indeed the start of their friendship as the two of them got the part they auditioned for and soon, they began their journey to everlasting friendship. Fischer recalls that sometimes, she felt strange when they were intimate for the camera since they have developed deep friendship.
Fischer said "It is the strangest thing to have a long-term fictional love interest. It's a type of relationship that is very intimate, and it's very powerful, but it's fictional. I mean, there is a part of me that is Pam, and there's a part of him that is Jim, and that part of me is in love with that part of him. But in real life, we are just friends."
To this day, the pair are still friends and have said nothing but good words about each other. While promoting his film Jack Ryan in 2019, John Krasinski was all praises for Fischer when he was asked if he'd be willing to work with Jenna Fischer again.
He said to ET Canada, "I mean I would love to work on anything with Jenna, she's the absolute and greatest actress. But also more than that, she's the most amazing person. So I would love to spend all my time with her if I could"
Does Jenna Fischer Still Talk To John Krasinski?
Despite The Office wrapping up filming in 2013, the pair are still very much involved with each other's lives. John Krasinski has confirmed that he still hangs out with The Office cast members and Jenna Fischer in particular. On his interview with Glamour, he said:
“I see Jenna [Fischer] all the time. I love her husband, Lee [Kirk], and their kids are amazing, so we get together a bunch. And I’d say other than Jenna, the last person I saw that was actually at her house was Brian Baumgartner.”
Jenna Fischer also confirmed that she'd developed friendship with both John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. When asked if she'd seen Krasinski and Blunt's A Quiet Place when it was released, the actress said she hasn't since she's afraid of seeing her friends in danger.
Fischer explains “Can I say something? OK so, my husband and I had a date night, and we were there, and we were ready to buy a ticket, but I got scared. I like scary movies, but this is so weird. I was afraid to see John and Emily in peril because they are my real friends. I got scared, so I am trying to gear up. And I think I need to go see it during the day. I really was afraid. So I’m going to see it.”
