It’s already been a year since Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022, and then later celebrated their union with a huge wedding in Georgia weeks later.
The couple seemed destined to tie the knot after calling off their original engagement in 2003, blaming media attention as the main reason. They then broke up in 2004, only to marry other people and have children. But Ben and Jen found a way back to each other in 2021, and finally married a year later.
However, rumors of marital problems have followed the couple ever since, and reports say Ben and JLo are trying everything possible to save their marriage – even working on Lopez’s relationship with Ben’s ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. Here's everything we know.
They Just Celebrated Their 1st Anniversary, But Ben & JLo Are Going Through Hard Time According To Rumors
Ben and Jen recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary with a trip to the Hamptons alongside their blended family. JLo also released a new song written for her husband about their elopement in Las Vegas.
While it seems that all is going swimmingly between the newlyweds, various reports suggest they’re continuing to navigate a rough patch.
Speaking to Star Magazine, a source recently claimed that Lopez asked Affleck for a post-nuptial agreement, as she fears divorce and wants to protect her assets. Jen is reportedly worth $400 million, while Ben has an estimated net worth of $200 million.
"This getaway was just what they needed to refresh and recharge,” the source explained. “Ben and Jen are embracing this time with their children. Both of them are realists who have been through divorce and don't want to be dealing with a nightmare money battle if they don't make it out of this rough patch."
“[Lopez is] still giving this marriage everything she’s got,” the source noted, adding that Ben is considering the post-nup to keep her “happy.”
JLo Has Never Liked Ben’s Ex-Wife Jennifer Garner, But Wants To Change Things
Jennifer is reportedly looking for ways to save her marriage, and one of the main things she’s focusing on is her relationship with Ben’s ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
The two were married from 2005 to 2018 and share three kids. Ben and his first wife divorced amid reports he’d been unfaithful, but he’s also admitted that his gambling and drinking took a toll on the relationship.
There have been mixed reports about Garner and Lopez’s relationship. While there are rumors the two women can hardly stand one another, other reports suggest they have a cordial relationship for the sake of the kids.
In August 2022, shortly after Lopez and Affleck tied the knot, a source said Garner was “thrilled” to see him officially move on. “I’m sure she’s thrilled to get rid of her fourth child,” a source told Page Six.
“Jen is a great mother, she has really mothered those kids — and it’s great that she doesn’t have to have a fourth child anymore,” they added.
While this report doesn’t imply Garner and Lopez have a strong relationship, it does suggest that Garner didn’t feel a type of way about seeing her children’s father remarry. However, the same insider said that Garner remains close to Affleck, especially if he struggles with his sobriety.
“Jen has always approached things the same, no matter who Ben has been with,” the insider went on. “They have kids together — so if he has another episode, or falls off the wagon, it would be her problem.”
JLo Believes Improving Her Relationship With Jennifer Garner Will Save Her Marriage
Despite their marriage being long over, Affleck and Garner remain close, and not just for the sake of their kids. Apparently, this has caused tension in his marriage to JLo. But she’s willing to work on improving things with her husband’s ex-wife for the sake of their marriage.
"J Lo has come to accept that Jen will always be a huge influence on Ben,” a source told Radar Online in June. “Even if they're not married, he still values Jen's opinion and respects her."
The insider says this represents a “huge shift in strategy” for Lopez.
"J Lo doesn't want to fight with Ben anymore," they continued. "She wants peace and harmony and for Ben to love and cherish her again. And the best person to help her is Jen."
For now, it’s unclear if Lopez’s new strategy is having a positive impact on her marriage. But one report from June says Lopez and Garner are getting along for the most part.
"[They] are very cordial and they have a very healthy and functioning relationship,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. "[They are] learning and growing together as a new, extended family.”
As for Garner and Affleck’s co-parenting relationship, the insider revealed, "[They] are healthy in terms of co-parenting […] and they have open communication and both are working to make this transition the best it could possibly be."
For now, it remains to be seen if Lopez’s efforts to improve things with Garner have a good impact on her marriage or not.
