In recent years, there has been disturbing allegations made against Hugh Hefner. However, that hasn't always been the case. Jenny McCarthy in particular cried over Hugh Hefner's passing. McCarthy credited Hefner as being a major influence in her life.

She said at the time of death, “He’d always say, ‘Thanks for sharing the dream, Jen.’ And when I thought about him passing last night, I just thought, I wanted one more chance to say thanks."

"Thank you for sharing your dream with me and for giving so many girls and so many people the opportunity of a lifetime.”

“I will always miss you Hef,” she said, calling him by his nickname. “You will never be forgotten," Jenny said in her farewell.

McCarthy also added that she felt like part of the family alongside Hefner during her stint with Playboy.

“I was lucky enough to be part of his family. And when I say family, it really truly was that for me and I think for a lot of girls, ” she said. “A lot of girls came from broken homes, and he would take good care of those girls in such a sentimental way. Which is why every girl interviewed about his passing will say probably the exact same things as me.”

However, that's where Jenny was wrong. Stories were conflicting, and that was especially apparent during the docuseries, Secrets of Playboy. McCarthy got several offers to appear, but it wasn't meant to be.

Not only was McCarthy offered a docuseries role, but she was also extended an invite to host the Secrets of Playboy doucmentary. McCarthy was flattered by the offer given the production company involved, but she refused to accept given that her time with Hefner was completely different compared to the stories out there.

“They had asked me to host that show,” she said. “They wanted me to really be involved. And be an executive producer and be involved in it — numerous times," she told ET.

“I love the production company, I’m gonna put that out there because I do love them, who did it. But because I didn’t have the same experiences, so I wasn’t going to sign up for a paycheque and be salacious when I didn’t experience those things,” she said. “And hearing their stories, my heart broke for a lot of these women.”

McCarthy made it clear that Hefner always acted like a role model around her.

“It was the thing that made me who I am today,” she continued. “[And Hef] was always supportive, always proud. Whenever I would see him he would always say, ‘You’re doing such a good job.’ I hope I did. I hope I did make him proud. … Every tear that I cry, is really out of gratitude.”

"I’m so grateful that when I was there, Hef was married [to Kimberly Conrad] and it was kind of run like a strict dormitory. Like, we weren’t even allowed near Hef or around the house,” McCarthy revealed.

“It was almost like Catholic school, to be honest,” she added. “There were no orgies or big parties going on. So I think I went in there in a window of time that was kind of safe for me. But hearing some of these girls’ stories was really rough.”

McCarthy would go on to confirm that Playboy was a classy organization behind the scenes, despite what was being said.

“Playboy [was] one of the classiest organizations I had ever worked with. The respect, the caring, and the support."

“I remember moving out to Los Angeles and not knowing anybody, but Playboy was like a sorority house meets the best grandpa ever,” McCarthy said. “Hef never once hit on me when I lived at the mansion. It was during the time that Hef was married, so I got to see the dad part of Hef.”

Clearly, it was a different experience for McCarthy compared to others.
