Jerry Seinfeld and Hugh Grant are both legends in the entertainment industry, though one is known for comedy while the other established himself as a successful romantic lead early on in his career. While some fans may expect Seinfeld and Grant to work well together given their professionalism and years of experience, Jerry recently admitted he had a “horrible” time collaborating with Hugh.

During the episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that aired on Wednesday, March 27, Seinfeld, 69, reminisced about filming the upcoming Netflix movie Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story with Grant.

“We had lots of fights. He’s a pain in the ass to work with. He’s horrible,” Jerry said on camera. “He tells you before you work with him, ‘You’re gonna hate this.’ And he’s so right.”

Nevertheless, it appears the pair worked out their tension early on after going out for good together, leading to an understanding – and the ability to continue filming the flick.

“We shot for 10 weeks, and that night that he and I had dinner — and we got drunk having dinner — that was the greatest night,” Seinfeld went on. “Because he’s so cool and he’s that English thing, you know, that witty. He looks good in a jacket … he’s one of those guys. I love those guys.”

Jerry originally didn’t think Hugh was going to be a part of the movie. Not only is Seinfeld acting in the Netflix drama, he also wrote and directed it. According to him, Hugh joined at the last minute, and for a second he may have regretted letting him on, considering their near-feud.

“The character is Thurl Ravenscroft, which is the real name of the guy who did the voice of Tony the Tiger. And so I imagined a frustrated Shakespearean actor who has to play this embarrassing character to make his car payments, and Hugh Grant is perfect for that,” Seinfeld added during the Late Night appearance. “I did not think of really Hugh Grant for the part…and I love Hugh Grant so much.”

Seinfeld and Grant are both celebrated figures in the entertainment industry, albeit for different reasons. Seinfeld is renowned as a comedian, actor, and writer, best known for creating and starring in the iconic sitcom Seinfeld, which aired from 1989 to 1998. The show, often hailed as one of the greatest television series of all time, showcased Seinfeld's comedic genius and observational humor, establishing him as one of the most recognizable faced on T.V.

On the other hand, Grant is a British actor famous for his charming and charismatic performances in romantic comedies such as Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), Notting Hill (1999), and Love Actually (2003). Last year, he stepped out of his comfort zone as an Oompa Loompa in Wonka.

While Seinfeld excels in the realm of television comedy, Grant has carved out a niche as a leading man in romantic films, each leaving an indelible mark on their respective genres. However, fans now have a merger of their talent to look forward to when the Netflix movie drops on May 3rd.
