Jill Duggar’s Husband Stood Up To Her Parents On Her Behalf

Jill, 32, explained her husband felt compelled to stand up for her after witnessing the mistreatment she says her family caused for years.

“Derrick trusted my dad and my dad trusted him,” the reality television alum explained. “But once we started having some differences, it got a little rocky there to the point where Derick had to have some really hard conversations with my dad and more recently [Derick] had to stand up for me … and said, ‘If you keep contacting her directly, I will have to file a protective order.’”

For now, it appears Derick hasn’t taken any action to secure a restraining order, and Jill says she remains hopeful that things will improve between her father and husband. “We’re not rushing things either with my family. We want to have good relationships, we want there to be better trust,” the mother-of-two explained.

Jill Says Her Parents Refused To Pay Them For Being On T.V.

Derick and Jill are the latest Duggar family members to speak up against the religious clan. In June, it was revealed the couple were releasing a tell-all book about what it was like growing up on the infamous TLC show 19 Kids and Counting, which was cancelled after Jill’s older brother Josh was exposed for molesting her as well as several of her sisters and a family friend in their childhood. They also dived further into the subject in the documentary Shiny, Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets.

Since then, Jill has made a series of shocking revelations, including that she felt forced to defend Josh on national T.V. after his crimes were exposed. The reality star says her family pressured her into it and she believes their income would’ve been in jeopardy had she not stuck up for Josh.

Moreover, Jill has also accused her family of withholding earnings from her and her siblings made from the show, despite being pressured into sharing personal moments on TV, including when Jill gave birth.

"I never received any payout—no check, no cash, no nothing," Jill told cameras on Shiny, Happy People.

Derick chimed in to say that TLC would directly pay Jim-Bob Duggar, who was expected to compensate his family accordingly, though Derick claims he and Jill never saw the money. "They said they paid the family," Dereck explained. “'Paid the family' means we don't get anything at that point. They said, 'Well, we paid your dad, so take it up with him.'"

For now, Jim-Bob and Michelle Duggar haven’t commented on Jill’s recent revelation that they’re prepared to get an order of protection should conflict with her parents continue to escalate.
