Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and CBS took a major risk with The Big Bang Theory. At the start, the series experienced troubles, and was forced into recasting the show. However, the second attempt proved to be positive as the show thrived and a major part of the success was Kaley Cuoco's inclusion.
In the following, we're going to take a look back at the final episode and all the emotions running through the cast. Cuoco and Jim Parsons in particular shared a special moment and one that was that much better given their fallout at the start of the season.
We'll reveal what the dilemma was about, and where the two stars stand today.
Kaley Cuoco Wasn't Pleased With The Way Jim Parsons Went About His Big Bang Theory Exit
After 12 seasons, The Big Bang Theory came to an end and a major reason for it was due the expiration of Jim Parsons' contract. The actor decided he did not want to renew or negotiate for an extra season. This meant the end of the series as there was no way of continuing on without the star.
However, the decision didn't sit well with some of the cast, and that included Kaley Cuoco. Although the actress knew the show was winding down, but Cuoco felt disappointed that Parsons had given any hints of wanting to end the show.
Cuoco said about the meeting, “Jim said, ‘I don’t think I can continue on,'" Cuoco shares. “And I was so shocked that I was literally like, ‘Continue on with what?’ Like, I didn’t even know what he was talking about. I looked at Chuck: ‘Wow. I thought we were — I’m so blown away right now.’”
"I mean, we cried for hours that day. We thought we were going to do another year, so all of [a] sudden your life kind of flashes before your eyes. I looked at Chuck and said, 'What are we going to do?' I couldn't breathe. It just felt like a death, but also a new horizon for everybody as well."
It was also said that Cuoco almost skipped out on tapings given her anger towards Parsons and his decision. Cuoco even struggled to make eye contact with Parsons given her frustrations. Nonetheless, Cuoco put the issues aside and the duo were able to put on quite the performance during the finale.
Kaley Cuoco And Jim Parsons Shared An Emotional Hug During The Final Table Read
The finale table read might've been more emotional than the actual final episode itself. Ultimately, the show received major praise for the last episode, ending things off on a positive note. The table read itself featured several emotional moments. Though fans were able to catch a great moment showing Jim Parsons consoling Kaley Cuoco who was clearly emotional on the day.
The moment can be seen below thanks to the Kapil Singh channel on YouTube. It takes place at the 1:38 mark.
At the end of the table read, Kaley Cuoco tells Chuck Lorre how happy she was with the final episode. Jim Parsons felt the same way. Parsons said about the finale, "Chuck Lorre once said that watching these characters change will be like watching paint dry — you wouldn’t even notice it was happening. That turned out to be both true and not true."
He continues, "We got to play long enough that they were allowed to change and you did notice it because at some point they were writing enough episodes, like, well we have to. They have to morph a little bit. And that made it really fun. I’m deeply satisfied with how it ended.”
A strong ending and things turned out to be just fine with Cuoco and Parsons.
Kaley Cuoco And Jim Parsons Are On Good Terms Today And Shared Lots Of Other Special Moments
Not only was their chemistry evident on-set, but they also got to share some special moments as well behind the scenes. Among the top moments included Kaley Cuoco presenting Jim Parsons with his Best Actor in a Comedy award at the Golden Globes. Cuoco was very emotional when announcing Parsons' name. The actor himself called in a once in a lifetime type moment.
"The Kaley thing, I immediately understood, no matter how long I work, no matter how wonderful my career is, that will never be repeated again. To have someone you love and work with is a once and a career type situation."
As for the relationship today, things continue to be positive between the two. Parsons made a brief comment on Cuoco's mother skills and what the future holds for her.
"She's gonna be incredible. She's a comforting presence, and it was a pleasure to work with her day in and day out. She's a very warm person, and I think that child is lucky to have her for a mother."
Fans are hoping to see a reunion of the sort between the entire cast sooner rather than later.
