Let's be honest here, Ellen DeGeneres has had her fair share of awkward interviews throughout the years.
In truth, we assume at least a few celebs regret their interviews, especially given all the backlash that would take place years later, tearing Ellen apart for her treatment of employees behind the scenes.
Prior to the scandal that rocked Ellen's career, there were a few signs.
Surprisingly, one of them came from 'Big Bang Theory' star Jim Parsons. The actor appeared on 'The Dan Patrick Show', speaking about his time on the 'Ellen Show'.
Much to everyone's surprise, the star revealed that he was let down and disappointed by how it all went down. Let's take a look back.
Jim Parsons Wasn't The First Celeb To Have An Awkward Interview On The 'Ellen Show'
It is out in the open nowadays, Ellen had a few awkward ordeals in the past with a bunch of celebrities, in truth, Jim Parsons is far from the only one.
The likes of Taylor Swift had a rough time on the show when Ellen kept bringing up the fact that she was dating Zac Efron, something that was completely untrue.
Things got even more peculiar when Dakota Johnson made her way onto the show. Ellen made a fool of herself when she asked the actress why she wasn't invited to her birthday, only for Johnson to claim that she was indeed invited. Things got even harder to watch when Johnson made mention that she thought Ellen didn't like her... a sentiment many others would echo as well.
It seems like Jim Parsons was also thrown off by his interview with Ellen. According to the 'Big Bang' star, he was expecting something completely different.
Jim Parsons Stated That His Time On The 'Ellen Show' Wasn't What He Expected
While on 'The Dan Patrick Show', Jim Parsons was asked about his most awkward interview ever. The actor pondered for a bit, making mention that he loved all his interviews from the past. However, that's when the moment would take place, as Parsons opened up about his experience on the 'Ellen Show'.
"The first time I went on Ellen, I thought that everyone would like me there more. It wasn't as fun as I thought it would be."
Parsons would also state that he was a huge fan of the show and encouraged by so many of his peers to do it, given that they all thought he and Ellen would hit it off, though that wasn't the case.
"It was fine but she didn't seem to be like, finally, where have you been all my life."
Dan Patrick would give his opinion on the matter, stating that at times the host makes it a point to be funnier than the guest, especially when it comes to impressing the fans.
Now despite the experience, Jim would return several times to the show in the future, and given his words, everything was perfectly fine when he would return, though again, it wasn't the atmosphere had expected.
A few years later after the statement, Ellen would come under fire for her treatment of employees behind the scenes. In turn, this almost canceled her career altogether.
A Few Years Later Ellen Almost Got Canceled For Good Given The Toxic Backstage Atmosphere
During her first meeting, things were very different behind the scenes on the 'Ellen Show'. The host had a key rule backstage, which was, “No one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect.”
Of course, along the way, that completely changed and hurt those behind the scenes, along with Ellen's career. She owned up to the struggles, at least to an extent.
"Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show."
"As someone who was judged and nearly lost everything for just being who I am, I truly understand and have deep compassion for those being looked at differently, or treated unfairly, not equal, or – worse – disregarded. To think that any one of you felt that way is awful to me."
Ellen ended up surviving the 2020 storm, though it seems like her show is now coming to an end.
In truth, there were several signs long before and Jim Parsons' words were one of them.
