Jimmy Fallon Said His Goal Is To Make People Laugh, Even If It Means A Decline In Ratings To Politically Driven Hosts, Stephen Colbert And Jimmy Kimmel

Featured on Today's Sunday Sitdown, Jimmy Fallon had a lot to talk about. The host accomplished quite the feat, entering his tenth year as the host of The Tonight Show. Speaking alongside Willie Geist, Fallon looked back at his road to landing the gig, and some of his favorite moments ever. In addition, Geist asked Fallon about his thoughts on staying afloat, despite the lower ratings compared to Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel.

Geist revealed, "Fallon's rise on the Tonight Show coincided with a heated age in politics. Over the years, he has slipped in the ratings behind The Late with Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Both of which take more of a confrontational approach to the news."

Still, Fallon wasn't bothered, and revealed he has something different to offer fans. In addition, his lighthearted moments with celebs have a greater reach on platforms like YouTube.

He said, "I wouldn't say we're a political show. The other guys do that better than I do. They're great." Geist adds, "Fallon connects with his audience where it lives these days, online. Tonight Show clips rack up hundreds of millions of views, beating out the competition."

"Ill make you laugh, that's my job," Fallon continues. According to the host, he wants his audience to forget about politics during his show, by keeping things light.

Fans noticed both Seinfeld and Maher quickly changing subject after none of the two could come up with something positive to say about the current crop of late night hosts. Fans have taken exception to this in the past, stating that Jerry, in particular, is out of touch with the current talent, and continues to live in the past.
