Reports are all over the place at the moment related to Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas' split. Outlets are suggesting various reasons for the split, while it is said that Joe Jonas also questioned Turner's devotion to motherhood amid the divorce proceedings.
In the following, we're going to take a closer look at the couple's time together, specifically how they felt about going out in public as a family. It turns out, Turner wasn't the biggest fan of this, and a lot of it had to do with privacy issues, especially in regard to her daughter.
We'll reveal why Turner felt skeptical about walking red carpet events with Joe, and which red carpet events she would accept alongside her ex-husband. Let's get started and take a closer look.
Sophie Turner Had A Different Feeling When She Got Engaged To Joe Jonas
Now that the couple is going through their separation, fans are starting to dig into past quotes made by Turner and Jonas. Although Turner and Jonas did get married, Sophie admitted to feeling different in regards to their engagement.
She told People at the time, “I’m still like: Holy s—! I’m engaged. There’s this weird misconception that being married is the greatest thing that’ll ever happen to you. But I’ve always found that my career is something I work for, and when I achieve something, there’s a sense that this is the greatest thing I’ll do in my life.”
Fans would also dig up another quote that shows Turner's willingness to move back to England, despite Jonas likely not wanting to move away from the US, especially for work purposes.
Turner revealed, "I miss England so much. The people, the attitude, everything. I’m slowly dragging my husband back. I really love living in America but, for my mental health, I have to be around my friends and my family. And also for my daughter – I would love her to get the education and school life that I was so lucky to have. England would ideally be the final destination, but [Joe] might take quite a bit of convincing! My parent’s house is the epitome of the English countryside – horses, sheep, cows."
It seems like the couple also had certain rules when it came to making appearances together. Sophie Turner revealed that walking the red carpet with Joe Jonas just had to make sense for their careers, or it was a no-go.
Sophie Turner Revealed The Couple Would Only Walk The Red Carpet For The Right Reasons Due To Privacy Concerns
The couple had walked the red carpet together during the Toronto Film Festival premiere of Devotion. The roles were reversed as this time, it was Joe Jonas appearing in a film. As expected, the celeb couple stole all the headlines during their time together on the red carpet.
Speaking with Elle UK, Turner would reveal that walking the red carpet with Joe was very rare, especially given that she didn't like how much exposure it created for her family - wanting to live a more private life instead for the sake of her daughter.
Turner reveals, "Every time Joe and I do a red carpet together, we make sure it's for the right reason and makes sense for our careers."
She continues, "You never want to market yourself as a celebrity couple. It's not that cool. And my daughter never asked for any of this. I know what it can do to your mental health to be in this industry, and to be photographed every day and have the comments. It's not something I want her to deal with unless she says, 'This is what I want to do.' We're quite strict about that."
The strict rule is completely understandable, but it seems like the former couple will be walking down the red carpet solo for the time being.
Joe And Nick Jonas Revealed That They Also Changed Certain Rules For Their Songs And What Goes Into Them
It should be expected, Joe Jonas has certain rules to follow when creating music as well. Certain rules have been adjusted since he became a dad, and that includes the context of certain songs. Nick and Joe admitted that when it comes to singing about touchy subjects, the group is extra careful, and it just has to make sense creatively.
“We’re always conscious that we’re three brothers singing on stage together. So when we speak about sex specifically, it’s gotta be kind of a nuanced thing, otherwise it can be a little strange,” Nick explained. “Obviously we’re not duetting those songs. Very individual singing in that."
Joe would go on to reveal that Sophie Turner was always available to give her feedback on certain songs, and was yet another positive for the song process.
