Joe Rogan’s Controversial Opinion About Taylor Swift Infuriated Her Fans

Easily one of the most successful people in the modern media landscape, Joe Rogan is so rich that fans want to know how much he pays his staff. Part of the reason why Joe has so many listeners is that he isn't afraid to be controversial, including when he interviewed JD Vance and endorsed Donald Trump. No matter how successful Joe is, it can be argued that he isn't as big of a deal as the music megastar Taylor Swift is.

After releasing many hit songs with highly quotable lyrics, Taylor continues to add to her fortune thanks to her fans who praise other stars who like her. On the other hand, those same fans were furious when Joe made a controversial comment about Taylor.

In the years since Taylor Swift became famous, the media has often covered her so-called feuds with other stars. In many cases, it has been highly questionable if there was any truth to the idea that Taylor actually was feuding with those other stars, most of whom were also female celebrities.

In the song, Ye boasted that he thought he might be intimate with Taylor because he "made that b**** famous."

Even though "Famous" was released in 2016, Joe Rogan discussed the drama around the song in December 2023. Joe managed to make many of Taylor's fans furious at that time by siding with Ye in the drama around that line from his song.

In December 2023, the comedian Shane Gillis made an appearance on "The Joe Rogan Experience." During the resulting conversation, there was a discussion about calls for female celebrities to get paid as much as their male counterparts. While discussing why he thought that discussion had no merit, Joe used Taylor Swift as an example of female celebrities who get paid a fortune.

As can be seen in a YouTube clip of their conversation, Joe and Shane then went on to talk about how wildly successful Taylor's concert tours are. The two men also began brainstorming about which other artists have been almost as successful as artists as Taylor has.

After discussing Beyoncé, Joe suggested Ye may have been almost as successful before his feud with Taylor. While Shane dismissed that idea and Joe agreed Ye probably never could have competed, he then brought up the rapper's claim about Taylor.

After admitting that Ye has never reached the same heights as her, Joe stated his belief that Taylor wasn't that big of a deal when their feud began. Shane then referred to the controversial lyric from Ye's song "Famous" about him making Taylor a star.

As People's timeline of their feud reported on, Kim Kardashian played a major role in Kanye "Ye" West's feud against Taylor Swift over his song "Famous." Kim defended the lyrics in Ye's song and released a video of Taylor being told about the track. However, Taylor responded to the video by pointing out she wasn't told about being called "that b****" in the song and that she never heard the track before it was released.

In response, Joe agreed that Ye made Taylor famous and went further by arguing that the rapper messed up by making her a megastar.

"But she wasn't that big back then either... He f***** up. He f***** up. He f***** up. He did."

At that point in his discussion with Shane, Joe was done talking about Taylor.

During their 2023 discussion about Kanye "Ye" West's career, Shane Gillis and Joe Rogan talked about the rapper's controversies. After the December 2023 episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience" featuring Shane Gillis was released, a clip of it was shared on X/Twitter. That clip showed Joe arguing that Ye was responsible for making Taylor as successful as she is today.

Anyone who has paid attention to how devoted many of Taylor's fans are shouldn't be surprised by what happened next.

While there has been a lot of attention paid to how passionately Swities defend Taylor Swift, that dynamic goes both ways. Taylor has defended her fans many times over the years. One example of that was chronicled in a May 2023 People article about a video showing Taylor defending a fan from overly aggressive security guards during one of her concerts.

Several fans used the comment section to express their anger at Joe crediting Ye for making Taylor famous.
