Over the years, Stephen Colbert has had some interesting guests. Seven years ago, fans were especially excited as Judge Judy made her way onto the show. The judge has made millions on TV, though mainstream fans have rarely seen her in an interview, in which she's relaxed and not her courtroom self.
In the following, we'll take a look back at the interview. Colbert brought up trending topics of the time, and that included Donald Trump. Sheindlin gave her opinion on Donald, and if she would ever consider running with him. She gave the perfect answer, and one Colbert and the fans had a blast with.
We're going to reveal what was said, and how the fans felt about the interview. In addition, we'll take a closer look at Judy's thoughts on Trump today.
Judge Judy Told Stephen Colbert Being Vice President For Trump Wouldn't Pay As Well
We turn back the clock to seven years ago for this interview. Judge Judy was in fine form speaking alongside Stephen Colbert, who was still early into his run on The Late Show. The two discussed several trending topics at the time. One of them was Donald Trump running for President (some things never change).
During the chat, Colbert asks Judy about her interest in possibly running alongside Donald Trump in a Vice-President position. Credit to Judge Judy for her honesty, as she admits the gig wouldn't compare to her salary at the time.
"It would be nice if he would run with someone who had good experience with government as a running mate." Judy adds in regards to running with Trump, "Quite frankly, I don't. I know the family court, I know my little television court room, and I'm too old, and I don't like to work so hard. And it doesn't pay enough too."
Colbert adds, "Oh no. You would have to take such a pay cut to become Vice-President. And it's so boring."
Judy Sheindlin wasn't lying in her assessment as she became one of the highest paid women in all of television. She is currently sitting on a huge net worth of $440 million. Clearly, she wasn't even trying to be funny.
Fans Had A Lot Of Praise For Judge Judy's Interview With Stephen Colbert
Interviews with Judy Sheindlin have been very rare, especially in recent years at the age of 81. For that reason, fans loved the interview between Judy and Colbert from seven years ago. Fans especially loved that Judy was completely out of character, compared to what fans have seen of her in the courtroom over the years.
One fan wrote, "Can we take a minute to appreciate seeing Judge Judy actually smiling and laughing?"
"She is even more awesome outside of the show. I don't care if people think she's a b****. She tells it like it is and is honest. That is all that matters."
Another fan believes Judy would be the perfect politician based on her interview with Colbert alone.
"If you tell the truth, you don't have to have a good memory..." No truer words have been spoken, she should be Mr. Sander's running mate!"
Seven years later, Judy is still consistent with what she said during the interview, and doesn't have any plans on supporting Trump during his next run for President.
Judge Judy Is Not Endorsing Donald Trump During His Next Presidential Run
Judge Judy is in full support of Nikki Haley, and once again, she isn't backing Donald Trump. Speaking alongside Deadline, Sheindlin believes the country went in a bad direction with Trump in charge.
“I saw the country going in a bad direction. I think most knowing people saw the country going in a bad direction. And if you have kids and you want your kids to have as good of a country as I grew up in, when you had presidential elections, you had your favorite but there weren’t really, there wasn’t anybody who was a horrendous candidate"
She continues, "You could live with either one. But then, something happened in American politics. I don’t know what it was. People started to be hostile towards each other — families, people in my family who wouldn’t speak to you if you were a Trump supporter, Biden supporter, if you supported Obama. It denigrates, and so I felt as if I had to get involved.”
Judy added that Trump is trying to make the most of his courtroom controversy.
"He’s decided that he’s going to energize his base by making himself a victim… [His lawyers] gave him the ammunition to do that because if you have one or two legitimate grievances that have substance that’s fine, but when you use your power in the justice system to get your own 15 minutes of fame … Donald uses that to create more people who are sympathetic towards him, because they feel as if he’s being victimized. So whatever he’s doing, it’s working for him.”
Things clearly haven't changed for Judy and her opinion of Trump all these years later.
